Wow.  My hair stood up reading that.  I had no clue he had a family member in poor health.  Was this something that was coming, or did it just happen suddenly?  I have immense respect to athletes who go out an compete after losing a loved one.

Very sad to lose someone so close to you. However, I would argue that as his only father-figure, he already had his proudest moment of the season. When Mike Tolbert laid that hit on that SF defender and then stayed with him until he got up, that would make me much prouder as a father than the opinions of a bunch of journalists. That's the kind of thing that tells a man he did right by his 'son.'

His grandad was able to watch him succeed here in Carolina and he was close enough to home to visit instead of thousands of miles away in California. Happy that he was able to share that with his grand father for a couple of years.
