Well Cox was a Jaguar up until last year. No ties to Rivera. However, he is still a corner and the salivating fans will still clamor for him. Might be more of a system guy ala Jason David with the Colts a few years back.

Like already said above, no relationship there with Rivera.

 

Plus, Cox was mighty "terrible" last season. A big reason why SD was so bad defending the pass.

he was part of a trifecta (McClain, Patrick) that was released by us today, although none crossed paths with Rivera there.

Cap savings - McClain's release saves 2.5M since he was in the last year of his deal, and didn't seem to be a fit in McCoy's O. Patrick was a low cost flyer.
