Question....if its the Eagles..how do we prepare for that up tempo offense?

Everyone is really overrating the eagles.

They run a gimmick no huddle spread option

1. Stop Lesean McCoy

2. Forcing the 3rd and longs

3. Take away Foles first read and get pressure in the back field

I think the Saints are going to roll em

We have film, watch what the Cowboys did. And their defense is a bunch of Panthers' fallouts.

Am I worried? Not unusually worried about the birds. OL is somewhat weak, I'm sure the boys will eat. Next, they screen a bunch w/ McCoy, so we null that like we did in the 2nd NO game. Captain on Jackson might be scary, but not too worried. D is going to be okay.

O should be fine with healthy Smitty. As for the fast pace, we'll see. Our boys will practice for it, and adjust in-game.

Stop Shady, stop the birds.

Stanford's offense beat Oregon's offense this season in CFB more than the Stanford defense shut down the Oregon offense. Sustain your drives on offense, keep them off the field, control field position, and limit them to field goals instead of TDs.

Basically just keep doing what we have been doing.

You don't have to get to clever, if you can stop the run with the front 7 and rush the passer with the front 4 you don't need a lot of exotic defenses to stop this attack. You have to win against your blocks and stay true to your assignments.

Completely off topic, but your post made me think of the Oregon-Stanford game. Marcus Mariota is fast! I saw him run and thought the game was on fast forward. Carry on.

good depth and planning are critical for the pace, but they seem to fall prey to teams with great end play (not necessarily a matchup thing, Peters and Johnson are playing fairly well).  That, and not getting sucked into playaction.  Offensively we're built to throw together those massively long drives, and their defense is bad enough to let it happen.

One downside is that they play well on the road, in no small part to the ideal that all these packaged plays they do, they don't need audibles.  It's all built in.

Then again, their OL has to go on the snap just like our D, so there's really not much advantage for them.

FYI smitty won't be healthy the rest of the way. He may play but he won't be more than 60%

Excuse me, he will play because that's just who he is.

You guessing how much he will be ready seems to be jumping the gun by a bunch. Not saying it won't be true but he may be better or worse come gameday.

Yep, the Cowboys played them pretty tough twice and they have the statistically worst D in the league.  It sounds strange to say, but we just need to watch tape on what they did to disrupt the Eagles.

I think this is what messed us up in the 1st Saints game.  We watched the Seahawks and tried to mimic what they did against the Saints instead of playing our game.  I think we need to play exactly the way we play everyone else.  We do however need to watch the Dallas game and hopefully some of the stuff translates to what we already do.
