I wonder how Cutler's contract will affect Cam's

That's the crazy thing. A complete outclass.

Football is the only sport where you get to compare two different class of players with a straight face.

I was being polite.

Some on this thread certainly illustrate why Cam is seemingly nitpicked to death on game day, and seemingly every other day. Cause some here actually believe that Cutler is a a more refined passer than Cam (even at this stage), which he doesn't appear to be with my eyes. Cam already shows more discipline and versatility as a passer hist first three years.

Sometimes I wonder if many here (especially those always quick to pass a Cam critique), watch much football outside of Charlotte?

People are really overrating Cutler, Cam is developing into a much more refined passer at their respective points in their career and Cam is 24 and Cutler is 30...

Yeah, I think many here are making assumptions on both Cam and Cutler, with out actually watching Cutler play.

I would agree with your statement.

Cam is duel threat. Cutler is a pure passer. While the stats look nice I bet cutler has more passing yards and passing td's.

Cutler had 9,024 passing yards, and 54 passing TD's in his first three seasons. Cam has 11,299 passing yards, and 64 passing TD's through his first three.

Cutler actually had 423 rushing yards through his first three seasons, and has 1,234 career rushing yards (he had 233 yards in 2012). He is far from immobile. Check your facts before you post.

As I said earlier: I think false assumptions like these, only reinforce the notion that many Cam Critique Happy Panther fans don't realize how good Newton is and what he has done so far in his career, especially for the Carolina Panthers with so little.

They don't realize, how accomplished a passer Cam is already, at this stage of his career (especially in comparison to guys like Cutler).

Cutler is the most overrated qb in the league by far, Cam, Wilson and Luck are all better at their ages than Cutler is at 30

this is compounded by the fact that Cutler has been throwing to Brandon Marshall almost his entire career (a season or two when Marshall was in Miami)

Imagine if Cam was throwing to Marshall

Yeah, I had wished JR went after Marshall when he was available a few years ago (though I know JR was on his morality kick at the time).

18 mil for a guy who has two of the best WRs in the league, a very good TE, and a good running game but unable to make the playoffs year in and year out all because he has a strong arm. After 8 years in the league people are still waiting  for him to explode and do something useful with that strong arm. Cam on the other hand has been breaking record from the moment he steps into the league and in his 3rd year got his team to a 12-4 record with a bye week in the playoffs. If I were Cam there is no way I'd take the same money as Cutler. You'd have to give me at least a penny more than him. The disparity in expectations is so freaking unfair. So many excuses for those guys. Where is Cam's excuses? wtf!

It seems like the media and the sports industry conceded a long time ago that certain players are innately better thus the higher expectations.

A little trip down memory lane for Cutler shall we?

Jay Cutler was inserted as starter of a Denver team that the previous year was in the AFC Championship game (2005) with Jake "the Snake". When Jay was inserted as starter under Shannon, the Broncos had a winning record at 7-4 and was firmly in the playoffs.

Cutler then proceeded to take the Broncos OUT of the playoffs with a 2-3 record and remember he had Marshall. Meanwhile, Vince Young turned AROUND the Titans from zero wins and ALMOST got them in the playoffs the same year.

In 2007, the Broncos went 7-9 under Cutler, and 8-8 in 2008. Shannon was then fired.

Cutler IMMEDIATELY got into it with the new hired coach, McDaniels, and was traded to Chicago. It was not until Cutler 2nd year in Chicago before he FINALLY had a winning record. And remember he had Lovie Smith's defense until last year.

FUN FACT: Jay Cutler went from high school to the second year in Chicago before he even QB his team to a winning record!

Yet we have MORONS on here complaining about Cam's high throw in a 12-4 season. These SAME MORONS are the ones in this thread claiming that Jay is "far more accomplished than Newton" and Newton doesn't deserve that type of contract.

Then when they FINALLY check Cutler's history they notice he has ONE playoff victory in EIGHT NFL Seasons!

But yea, I am sure if this was NEWTON'S history, these fans (who complain constantly in 12 win season) would just be fine with him and call him a franchise QB.

Heck, someone on here after the second Saints game said we are jumping to conclusions if we think Cam is a franchise QB.

So, an elite QB is one who threw for a lot of yards? I thought Cam did that in his rookie year......without an off season. Fail!

No an elite QB is a QB that is on a team that is succesful only because of him. Aaron Rodgers, he goes down with injury and the Packers are lucky they get 8 wins, its because he is that team. If a QB had the same stats Cam had this year on a team with horrible D, that team would be lucky to get 4 wins.

Our D is the only reason we win games. This team is a mirror image of the 2003 team that was also carried by a stout D. Cam is right on the level of a Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick, your classic game manager that is carried by a stout D.

Well, only 2 people had more passing yards than Cam their first three years and neither of them is called Cutler. So, you do the math.

Cutler always had better weapon than Cam in Marshall and Jeffrey. In fact, if we continue this comparison thing and start digging up the stats we might end up concluding that Cutler is one of the worst QBs in the league in almost any category. And also, about that dual threat thing, who says Cutler can't be that too. He has two legs, two arms, and apposable thumbs just like Cam. This is sports, everyone should know how to run. No reserved position(QB) for the athletically challenged. Don't try making it sound like it's a slight on Cam for knowing how to run.

Poor baby Cutler, he doesn't know how to run, let's have a much much much lower expectations on him and pay him much much much more money than the more athletic player who accomplished much much much more than him. smh.

And yet I again have to point out the fact that Cutler only played in 5 games his rookie season.  Compare the 2nd and 3rd season.  Saying Cam and Cutler is of the same QB style is laughable.  Cutler is a gunslinger Cam is a dual threat.  You did't see Cutler taking half of the runningback yards his first 3 seasons.

But I will say Cam should make more than Cutler. But for the benefit of the Panthers I hope Cam realizes he needs to help the team out and not break the bank.
