I wonder how Cutler's contract will affect Cam's

I take it back. Just looked up Cutler's career. Although he has had 3 winning seasons he only made the playoffs once. That is just pedestrian.

Now you see what I mean about hype. The media can convince us that a player is far more (or less) valuable than they actually are.

They can be deviously subtle at times or overt like with The Golden Calf of Bristol.

Jay Cutler through his first three seasons: 9,447 yards, 57 total touchdowns, 37 interceptions. No playoff berths.

Cam Newton through his first three seasons: 13,331 total yards, 92 total touchdowns, 42 interceptions. 1 playoff berth.

Plus rushing yards for Cam.

Nevermind you accounted for them. Damn, I really Clausened that!!!

Im too lazy to do the research right now but can any of you cap gurus tell me when we are relieved of some of the hurney contracts? (D-will, stew, godfrey, ect)

Not for at least a few more years. Godfrey's is the most manageable of the three. Stewart's contract is hard to even look at.

It will probably be brought up in negotiations.  Although, I don't see it as a hindrance to reaching a mutually satisfying agreement.  Cutler has had more success than Cam, and while football is a "team" sport, Cam has had only one winning season granted that season is a 2d seed in the NFC playoff picture.  I would imagine it will have loads of incentives.

Don't see Cam or his agent doing more than a 6 year contract.  Would put him at 30 at the end of it.  So if we did do 6 years at $105 -115 million over the contact it would still be a good deal for the Panthers  115 mil would be close to 19 mil a year.

He's made the playoffs several times, made it to an NFC Championship game. He's a polished passer compared to Cam.

He made the postseason once. Won one game

Cam probably is looking at 60 something guaranteed IMO

Mass Suicide.

A price most of us would probably be willing to pay for a Super Bowl.

Cam also has to realize that if he takes all the money, they won't be able to ever get him any help.

I agree, Cutler got overpaid... but he does have potential and he doesn't suck as some of you so eloquently said...

There are 32 teams... there are not 32 elite QB's unfortunately.

I have to laugh at how concerned u folks are about Cam's future salary as ur QB. Even going as far as to hope he takes less money so the team can do something they have yet to seriously do since he became ur QB, build a strong team around him.

In all honest, Cam is working harder the other young QBs, except maybe Gino. Colin, Russell, Luck, and even RG has much better weapons around the. This team seem to be milking Cam's talent for all it's worth. And u folks r concerned at his future salary.

It's funny how everyone sees Cam's real contribution to this team but u folks only seem interested in wins, rings, and how accurate he throws a ball.

It seems like you dont even have to be a good QB these days to get a mega contract, just be a NFL QB that people have heard of like Romo, Cutler and Flacco and you are guaranteed a mega deal. I know I will get bashed big time for saying this but while Cam is very solid hes not elite. Im sorry but in today's NFL its not hard to find a random QB that can pass for just 3300 passing yds and a 61% completion rate these days and ride a no 1 defense to the playoffs. Cam is solid no doubt, but lets be real, with this elite D, you dont need a world beater QB to get it done. In my mind, Cam isnt a 100 million dollar QB.

My first thought when I saw the Cutler contract was; everyone here wants to know why Stafford gets a pass.... why does Cutler get a pass? He's won what; one playoff game? Every year he allows it to slip away it seems like. he's never been that consistent... he's got a huge arm and all the measurables and I suppose the best is yet to come but seems like Cutler totally gets a pass.
