Eagles fans already counting chickens

I was there for the last year of the Vet until after the 2003 season.  I went to the first game ever at the Linc (MNF vs the Bucs - Eagles lost), I went to tons of games while I was there.  Their fans are assholes and they take pride in it.  They love the fact that opposing team's fans can't wear jerseys in there without getting poo thrown at them.  

 

Sometimes I wish BoA was more like Philly.  Certainly not to that extreme, but I remember after we lost to Dallas in either '04-'05 I walked out and the Cowboys fans had mounted the Panthers statues outside of the stadium.  That would never fly in Philly. 

So 70,000 people are all assholes?  Even if 10,000 were that still means 85% aren't. 

 

Seriously I grew up outside of Philly and have lived a number of places. I have been to the Vet, Franklin Field, Connie Mack (for baseball)  I find people to be people, some bad, some good, most in between.  I think that their fans can be jerks and there are many who can be jerks. But I have seen the same thing in Oakland, or in New York as well as a number of college stadiums.  But i don't categorize them all as assholes. I do agree that BOA is sometimes tame but there has got to be some medium ground between having a jail in the basement of the stadium like at Veteran Stadium and allowing opposing teams to take things over like we allow at times at BOA.

50,000 of them are assholes.  The other 20,000 are women and children.  

 

At the MNF game last year some guy behind us with his three kids wouldn't stop dropping the F bomb.  

 

I can assure you I'm not insulting them.  I lived it for three years.  They take pride in it.

It's going to be a tough sell to paint the Eagles fan base as a classy one. Maybe you're desensitized to assholish behavior because you were an Eagles fan for 40 years?

There is a huge difference between being classy and an asshole. You are using extremes here and most people are in the  middle.  And again I was an eagles fan for 40 years and I never threw anything at an opposing fan and none of the people I went with did it either.  No one is saying there fans aren't loud and sometimes obnoxious and there are assholes among them.  It just doesn't characterize all the 70,000 fans at all.
