Wild Card Weekend Predictions

Recommended Posts

In Indianapolis, Andrew Luck will take care of business against the Chiefs. The Chiefs peaked early, and have lost there luster since. The Chiefs have lost 3 of their last 5. The Colts have won 4 of their last 5.

Colts over Chiefs 34-31

New Orleans heads to Philadelphia where their softness in the elements shows. Outside of their climate controlled dome they are a mediocre team at best. With temperatures in the 20s at kickoff, Chip Kelly's offense will move the ball easily.

Eagles over Saints 30-24

On Sunday, the Chargers take on the Bengals. The Bengals won the last matchup just a few weeks ago in San Diego. I expect the same result Sunday. Dalton and AJ Green combine for two scores as the Bengals defeat the Chargers.

Bengals over Chargers 23-20

Later that afternoon the most interesting game of the weekend will take place. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers play host to San Francisco. The media would love nothing more than for Rodgers to win, but I don't think it will happen. The Niners are a perfect 5-0 over their last five games. It seems every season there is a home playoff loss in the opening round, and this is the one.

Niners over Packers 27-24

Just a thought. If I was Sean Payton I would have flown my team up to Philly Monday morning and practiced in the cold elements all week.

Regardless I'm going Saints and 9'ers in the NFC.

Bengals/ Chiefs in the AFC.

colts come from behind to beat the chiefs

saints lose in philly in a really high scoring game

the chargers had to win in overtime at home to a team that was resting it's starters. now they roll into cincy? it won't even be close. bengals all the way. chargers shouldn't even be in the playoffs.

as far as that game in green bay is concerned, i think it's going to be close but i think rodgers pulls it out for them and the packers come to charlotte next week. the advantage for the packers will be the weather. they are expecting the temperature to be in the single digits at game time and a low somewhere around 17 below that night. kaep has played well in pretty cold weather, but it was still in the 30s. this will be much harder and only one team of these two is used to this kind of weather and practices in it. that isn't kaep's team.

Saints 38 Philly 17( I know it's on the road but I think they right the ship this week, really want that rematch with Seattle)

Packers 20 49ers 13 ( tip of Kaeps nose freezes and breaks off forcing Colt McCoy in the game and he throws a pick six on what was supposed to be a game winning drive)

Colts-38 Chiefs-13( 23-7 in Kansas City? Really)

Cincy- 42 Chargers-31 (scared of this trip next season)

I know you guys don't like the saints but they are a better team than Philly not to mention they've been here before.

Saints over Philly 34-17

San Francisco has won the last two but that was on the west coast. In the Tundra with a healthy Aaron Rodgers give me the Pack.

Packers survive at home over San Francisco 31-27

If this game was played in San Diego I'd give the chargers a chance, but Cincy has been pretty dominate at home lately

Bengals over Chargers 38-17

After Luck's showing in the playoffs last year I'm going to have to go with the Chiefs in this one.

24-10 Chiefs

They have been here before? How about 0 away playoff wins in their entire franchise history.

Before this season we had never beaten Miami or Matt Ryan in the dome. Do we really want to talk about what teams have "never" done. They still have one of the best qbs in the game and one of the best play callers. I don't like them either but I respect them as a football team and I'm not ignorant to their abilities.

If the football Gods hadn't sent that rain in we'd probably be on our way to Philly right now.

8PM Saturday in Philly is supposed to be 30 degrees, dropping thru the game. Taints like to play inside. I like Philly.

The question I have with the Pack is their crappy offensive line.  SF's defense will be pressuring Rogers all day long, but I think his return sparks his team to a win. GB

Bengals at home will beat the Chargers.

Colts at home will beat the Chiefs.

I believe his point was that the Saints have playoff experience in key areas, which the Eagles lack. Brees vs. Foley, and most importantly Payton vs. Kelly. Saints have good experience, but I expect the Eagles to win not because the offense for the Saints will be stopped, but rather Rob Ryan's defense can't stop Philly.

    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
    • This was evident first two weeks of season. I don’t see any issues with physical tools since he came back. I think he is a player that must play with confidence to overcome those size limitations and he’s doing that.
    • Still 3-10 on passes over 15 yards.  At least he's not scared to merely attempt them anymore.  Where I see improvement is the 10-15 yard range.  He was 6-6.  Bryce of old was scatter shot on anything beyond 10 yards and the further out, the worse the accuracy.
