Bucs Hire Lovie

He also got handed a team that was pretty much put together.

I'm not saying that they are now a perennial playoff team now. Just that they are going to be much tougher.

Yea and was handed a pretty good defence himself. His big upgrade was Carolina players and Rex Grossman.

According to ESPN, Jeff Tedford will be the OC and Rod Marinelli will be the DC of the Buccaneers.

Marinelli can put together some good defenses... And the Bucs have some talent on that side of the ball. Next year is going to be very interesting in the NFC South.

Lovie can put together a defense, and while it seems like there are some pieces that will make life easy (McCoy, Lavonte David), he's a Tampa 2 guy.  So, are you gonna put Revis in the short zone?  Mark Barron playing the deep half?  Be my guest.

appears he's hiring Marinelli and Frazier, who are good coaches.  But again, points at Tampa 2.

Tedford is a good offensive coach.  Really liked him years ago.  But Lovie definitely doesn't put a lot on offense. I don't know if Doug Martin fits that O if you look at the Cal draft picks at RB over the last decade.

They'll be respectable, good even.  But they damn well won't be that good.

Wonder if Frazier will be the DC or the DB coach.

I'm not a member of the 'Fear Lovie' crowd either.  He'll surely be a step up from Schiano, but I'm not convinced he's major trouble.

Will be very interested to see who gets the GM gig.  The Bucs are following in the Browns path from last year of hiring the coach and GM in bass ackwards order.

it's still happening, I don't know if Lovie is official, but I'd read both Marinelli and Frazier as DC.  I'm assuming he could get both guys on staff. Schefter has Marinelli.

It'd definitely be more ideal if Frazier wasn't also there.

My choice would be Frazier at DC, Marinelli coaching DL.  Raheem Morris would conceivably be available for DBs, but that seems unlikely for a couple of reasons.  Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Looked over the staffs of the fired head coaches.  Not an expert on Lovie, but saw a connection or two (Bill Kollar, for one; Bob Babich's kid).  Nobody that really scared me all that much.

not a bad hire, i wouldn't be surprised if they tried to make a play for cutler or mccown

McCown hinted he might retire, but wasn't definitive.  Definite possibility.  His kid brother was a Buc for a few years.  He might tell Josh to go for it (or to run away).

Cutler I could see, though you could argue Glennon's decent (and a lot cheaper).
