Hardy want "big contract he worked for"

The Raiders have $60 million in cap space. We'll find out soon if Greg wants money or wins more. I am getting annoyed with all the money talk, though. Worry about the playoffs, then getting paid. The team will try to make it work but the salary cap does exist.

I agree, but the Kraken's gonna answer the questions if he's asked. I wish people around here didnt think about it as much as they do, but oh well.

The bottom line is we're sitting in a sweet spot that many teams would kill to be in. Its time to kick back and enjoy the ride.

oh ffs

look at this quote and tell me you think he wants to leave

"I would love a franchise, man. Add another year on my career," Hardy said. "Get to play football a little bit longer without a contract, another year to be in Carolina to give them a chance to get their fiscal responsibilities in order so we can be here forever like Steve (Smith) and a lot of other guys like Thomas (Davis)."

Look at the fuging context...

Because the tag is still counted against the cap, wouldn't putting the FT on Hardy simply delay the inevitable of paying Hardy long term until the next season, which will be even more difficult when the contracts of Cam and Keuchly still need to be resolved?

2014: Tag Hardy and extend Cam

2015: Hardy (again) and now you have Keuchly's contract to deal with.

I hope we win the Super Bowl. If we do, we wont be in a state where we really need to retain him. Next man up and find a replacement through the draft.

Hearing that Lamarr Houston might not be back with Dennis Allen and the Raiders. He's a 34 DE, but is built kinda like Hardy. He could be have for a lot cheaper than Hardy and would give us something productive. Hardy will probably be wearing Black and Silver next year.

Would be good for him and CJ to make 10 mill per year, I would go for that.  Unfortunately, CJ is overpaid.  One guy won't be hear as effective without the other and without dominatiing DT's

Yeah, because Charles Johnson sure was struggling back in 2010 with 0 sacks Tyler Brayton and Landri and Hayden at DT.

and they have a huge need for DEs and pass rushers, so they could spend lots of money.

I really want to keep Hardy but i think it would be smarter to hang on to that money for Cam's next contract. I dont see a way to justify having both DE's make money like we gave our RB's. You cant replace Hardy's 15 sacks but i think Addison could fill in nicely if need be. Having two elite edge rushers is more of a luxury than a necessity.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
