It would be nice if the dude could could get some yacs at some point in his life and run straight instead of sideways

I agree with this. Greg is awesome but it seems most time he catches the ball he tries to juke the defender and move laterally.  It never seems to work.  If he'd just turn upfield and go he'd get an extra 3-5 yards after the catch.

.

Apparently you can't say anything about the all mighty Greg here. It's not my fault that the team hasn't invested in the WR position to the point where he seems like a God.

I know he runs like a 4.47 or something like that and I know he's been dealing with a foot injury all year and that he's actually second on the team in yac behind deangelo, but that's still only 47th in the league. That only speaks to at how bad our WRs are.

It is hard to know when you are sarcastic and when you think that what you said is true. You make these kinds of remarks frequently and they sound alike.

As for people like me defending him, what is there not to like. Sure he can't block that well but either could Wesley Wall.  And that is who I compare Olsen to from Panther teams of the past. A guy with soft hands and good speed who can use his body to shield the defender and find holes in the coverage like he did against Atlanta when he caught that rocket from Cam.  I wanted him as our first round draft pick when he was drafted by Chicago.  I was delighted when we got him for a third and nothing has really disappointed me with the exception of his inability to get YAC.  I hope that improves as Cam and he continue to develop chemistry so Cam can find him in stride instead of in a hole with defenders incoming. When we can get him open for a seam route or skinny post he has a chance to go the distance.  Assuming Cam can thread the needle.

I like our receivers right now.  I want to see them all become more productive and consistent so we can get good performances out of all of them instead of one or two guys each game.  I think it more inconsistency and lack of focus instead of lack of ability.  Like in the last 2 minutes when a guy like Ginn makes a great play over the middle and Hixon catches a pass with remarkable balance and awareness that we hadn't seen from him all year. It would be awesome to see several step up next week.

That's fair I hear that a lot in my every day life. But like someone else said Greg seems to try to juke defenders instead of just turning up field. I wish we had another WR and another pass catching TE. That would be a more complete offense. Anyone that attends games can see that Greg is open more times than he is targeted

Same with Cam.  He's huge and is kinda fast.  Doesn't look like he will outrun DEs, LBs, or CBs, but he does it all the time.  People praise Cam for this.  I have no clue why Greg is bashed so much by Panther fans.  Without him this year we wouldn't be in the playoffs.

Because Cam is fast; a patient runner (which is why he appears deceptively fast/not as fast to some people at times); is strong, and can Juke you out of your shoes.

On the contrary, Olsen (foot or no foot) doesn't seem like a determined runner in any of those aspects compared to Cam.

Not knocking Olsen at all. He's good at what he does, and a pro. Absolutely! Just pointing out the differences between him and Cam as runners with the ball.

When Greg came into the league he ran a 4.47 40 Yard dash. I would say he has lost a step, but I also keep in mind that he is working through pain right now. He is as good of a tight end as we have had since Wesley Walls, and I would never complain about what he does for us. That diving catch he had last game to extend the drive late in the game was gorgeous. Best hands on the team, bar none.
