The Arizona Cardinals released rookie tight end Lequan "D.C." Jefferson on Monday and signed veteran tight end Jake Ballard, the team announced.

Jefferson, a seventh-round pick, was taken into custody Friday on DUI charges, according to Scottsdale police.

Later, Jefferson was given a blood alcohol test and it read .156, according to police. Jefferson had no alcohol in his vehicle at the time of the incident, police said.

A Scottsdale police officer was in search of a vehicle that was reportedly involved in a collision near Scottsdale and McDowell roads earlier that day, according to a police report.

The officer was informed the vehicle he was looking for was seen pulling into a Walgreens at Scottsdale Road and Drinkwater Boulevard. The vehicle pulled into a parking spot and the officer approached Jefferson and told he he had reason to believe he was in a collision at the given intersection, according to police.

If we really are losing Hartsock for the rest of the year, then that sucks.  However, we will be getting some guys back, and our running game hasn't been all that great anyway since his return.  All things considered [early bye week, a couple knees, etc.], I am happy with the overall health of our team headed into the first playoff game.
