First QB to go in the draft?

Big frame QB's seem to be the draw now.  Smaller guys like Bridgewater and Manziel are guys you figure to have out for weeks at a time due to injury.  Bigger guys like Rothbgr, Cam are preferable is you can get the arm and intangables to go with them.  O Brien likes the big guys from what I have read, thus the Bortles comment.

Bridgewater is good already, but without a rocket arm and with his small frame, I doubt he gets worlds better.

If teams are consider Manziel at all, why not consider a guy like Connor Shaw?  Shaw has more upside than him if you ask me.

If you're just speaking physically, then absolutely, Shaw and Manziel are very similar players. Both, however, have tons of baggage off the field, with Shaw's being a tad worse, I would image. It's one thing to just be an outright douchebag as a rich, spoiled college kid... It's another to have a serious alcohol, and possible drug, addiction.

Call me crazy but I think Bridgewater could eventually mold into a more mobile Tom Brady/Aaron Rodgers type.

He throws a nice ball, but don't think he has a big NFL arm like the guys above.  We will see at the combine, if he works out.

Wonder if he'd trade for Ryan Mallett.

There's talk McDaniels might go that route if he got the Browns job.

Yup! Exactly what I've been thinking.

I have that in my recent two round mock I just posted.

Even if McDaniels do get the Browns job, I do not see them making the move for Mallett. The Browns have said they like Manziel.

It'd be really smart for O'Brien to make the move for Mallet who was under him in his rookie season and take the freak Clowney to pair with Watt.

You think the Pats would go for the Texans second rounder for Mallet?

Clowney in the 1st and Mallet in the second?

That's what Scott Pioli got for Matt Cassel (34th pick) in 2009. But, that was a proven Cassel in the regular season who helped won 11 games after Brady's injury in Week 1.

Mallett have shown some promise in the preseason last season. He was okay only this past preseason. I think that O'Brien could potentially pull off something like two 3rd rounders (2014/2015) for Mallett.

Is Clowney more of an instant impact player than any of the QB's coming out?

Then why not take him, then get your QB during the second round either by picking him or via trade?  Gonna be fun to watch it unfold.  I am usually juiced about the draft by now, but have not even begun to research any of these guys due to the Panthers actually giving me something else to do at the moment.

I wasn't aware of Shaw having any off the field problems.  You must be referring to South Carolina's QB before him, Stephen Garcia.  He definitely had a drinking problem.
