McDermott to interview for Redskins HC this weekend...

Most teams will be interviewing and hiring in the next two to four weeks in which playoff assistant coaches(who would be coveted) should not be penalized for their successful run.

With limited distraction time it is a non issue and really points to great staff Rivera brought with him from day one in Chud and McD bc both are worthy of Head Coach considerations.

The best managers in business not only meet their goals but develop their staffs for the next level let alone cultivate the warrior's perfomance in the field.

Rivera has exceeded any and all goals to improve and develop this team and set up the coaches for success. MCD has seized the opportunity and deserves any attention as a defensive mind to watch in this league....as he was in Philly before being victimized as a scapegoat.

In all of this success by the team... Having the personnel that perfectly matches the chemistry, scheme and leadership style is attributed to Gettles. Rivera and McD did not get smarter overnight... Just got the right players and depth on the defense/special teams.

This season has been a rare Panther season in which there is a perfect harmony from the front office to coaches to players that translate to wins and an explosion of fan buy-in if there is any type of deep run in these playoffs.

I think him interviewing now, instead of prepping for the playoffs is wrong.

Can't hold a guy back from interviewing, especially when he has a 2 wk break.

This is "this guys dream", as other have said previously.

It would certainly be interesting to see him evaluating RG3's development, after having Cam, or would he even consider Cousins (unless the meddling Snyder said "hands off RG3")? Lol

We'll see?

Sorry if I overreacted....I have been talked down off the ledge and do see the other side of the coin now.Just let this play out and see what happens..if he does leave I wish him success and not a "Chud" ending.I guess that guy just left me a little bitter and didn't care for his "all me" attitude.I know MCD seems like a team player,so my bad.

I don't this at all. I thought there was a rule about teams having to wait to contact coordinators until the teams season had actually ended.

During the Season
  • Teams may not interview assistants from another team for either a lateral move or a head coaching opportunity during the season. The lone exception to this rule comes when teams want to interview assistants for head coaching jobs while the current team is in the playoffs. As there is an urgency to hire new head coaches for some non-playoff teams, the NFL does allow teams to request permission to interview a postseason participant's assistants during the wild card week for teams who have the bye that week. They can also request permission to do so during the first week of Super Bowl preparations as long as there is a two-week break between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. The team only has one chance to talk to the assistant coach, once permission is granted, before the coach's team is eliminated from the playoffs.
