McDermott to interview for Redskins HC this weekend...

I wish, just once, we could put together a strong season and not have to worry about our coordinators getting poached. I hate how it feels like Carolina is just a stop over for talented personnel and as soon as other options emerge they're out of here. It doesn't speak well to loyalty or their ability to recreate their success. Chud is a fine example. Sure, he got paid his money to be a head coach for one season but now what is he going to do? Had he stayed another year, perhaps helped us create an even stronger version of his offense, he'd probably be the hottest name in football right now. These guys must not have a lot of faith in team success to pass up the chance to win it all to coach a team that went 5-10 or whatever last year with no immediate improvement in sight.

I know, I know. Every coaches dream is to get hired and fired as an NFL head coach after putting themselves in a horrible situation. Whatever happened to guys like Dick LeBeau, Jim Johnson, Mike Zimmer, etc. Guys that aren't hoping for a one-off to promote their ambitions to head coach a team. It's frustrating.

This. Most Huddlers seem to have missed this. Or else they think an interview takes all day...

A position of that magnitude requires more than a day when you include the preparation and possible travel time. In this instance I think travel time might not be part of the equation but high level positions require a high level of prep.

Call it what you want, at least the Hawks coaches will not interview until the season is done.We need all hands on deck and not resumes and powerpoint presentations for HC gigs being prepared.

Disagree the Seahawks OC interviewed yesterday with the Redskins according to NFL network.

I disagree. I think the redskins need to totally rebuild... They are in an incredibly shitty situation.

Going with a young defensive mind that has seen cam newton, drew Brees, and Matt Ryan play every year is a smart move.

They also need to bring in someone that won't take poo from from RG3, but at the same time, won't throw people under the bus like shanahan did.

Snyder only wants a yes man and will want RG Knee to stay in charge like he tried to be with Shanny. Any coach that takes that job is on a short leash and won't make it past 2 years if they don't win immediately.

Personally I think he can be replaced. Is McDermott a great motivator and bright mind? Without a doubt. We have several bright defensive minds on defense including our head coach so it isn't the end of the world.

I personally believe Rivera installed and drafted the players he wanted for the defense while McDermott called the alignments and defensive schemes on Sundays.

Last year when Chud left I think we were worried more, and rightfully so. Chud was the problem, but he was creative and brought an explosive offense.I believe most fans did not want to lose that. It was Chud's inability to effectively use the run game that was perplexing.

I still don't get why he needs a offensive HC.

RG-Mes biggest issues is he is a turd, has to much power, and no one is teaching him how to move on from a gimmick crutch scheme......and his poor running. A good defensive HC can address what RG-Me needs and give him the coaches

A smart GM would try and give him an offensive minded one.

No GM is going to look at it and break it down that much and say wow the four teams with a BYE has defensive minded coaches. Youre going too far with that. If we just look at it, its split evenly with 6 offensive HCs (Harbaugh, Kelly, Payton, McCarthy, and McCoy) and 6 defensive HCs (Rivera, Carroll, BB, Pagano, Lewis, and Foxy).

Most GMs in this situation would likely go with an offensive minded one. But, Im not saying that the Skins wont hire a defensive HC.

lol at people still living in the delusion that he isnt missing time with his team to try and justify the "stick their fingers in their ears lalala everything is fine" mentality the same predictable posters always take

the team isnt off this weekend. that has already been stated by the team itself. he is missing prep time with the other coaches and players to try and advance his personal career. we are being damaged so Mcdermott can try and fulfill his personal goals. that is a fact. if you're going to discuss it, then it must be called like it is.

accept it.
