League rules allow teams to interview assistants that have a playoff bye on this coming Sunday.  I don't see how this will affect his focus.  This happens every year to playoff coordinators.  He probably would have had Sunday off anyways.  If anything it just means he will be more focused to show what he can do with the defense in the divisional round.

I don't mind him interviewing now. There's no way of knowing if the job will still be available if he decides to wait.

McDermott is good but look at the tools he has... Probably best front 7 in the entire NFL. I don't think the defense would miss him that much.

Don't some teams have rules that they don't allow assistants to interview for other positions until the season is over (playoffs included if applicable)?  I guess the Panthers don't?

 

You can not refuse HC interviews. Coordinators are allowed to interview in bye weeks. The coordinators of wildcard teams aren't allowed to interview this week.

Skins may hire him, but from what I've seen and heard from him over the years I don't think he is HC material. Snyder is a fool any way and any coach that would work for him is a bigger fool.
