2014 UFA WR

We need the tallest receiver we can find for Cam. Maybe Yao Ming

I was thinking this the other day. We'll maybe not Yao. Looking at several of olsens receptions, they all come to him at face level. Olsen makes those catches with ease, lafell not so much. Give me kelvin Benjamin at 6'5 or Ebron from carolina. The taller the better. Nicks is only 6'1 but can still a much better receiver than lafell. If he isn't cheap, then the draft is probably a better place to get a WR/TE.

E Decker is overrated. Manning made him.

Manning making Decker is preposterous. As has already been pointed out, Decker was producing pre-Manning. He was balling under Orton, and it wasn't until The Golden Calf of Bristol took over that his production fell off.

He is just the type of WR that Cam needs, and I'd take him over a high-priced Nicks in a heartbeat.  Decker is big, has good hands, and runs good routes, can get downfield, and is an absolute Red Zone nightmare.  I have watched him for the last couple of years now.  He is not necessarily a legit WR1, but he can put up those types of numbers with another legit threat on the field.

As much as I dislike Ebron because Tar Heel, you make an interesting point here.

Who says that our big receiving target needs to be a new WR?  Remember how explosive our offense was in 2011 with Shockey AND Olsen?  Maybe what we really need is another fantastic receiving threat at TE.  Especially a big bodied one that can run block worth half a damn too.  This would open up many more options for us out of two TE sets.  I mean, I literally can't think of a time this season that a TE not named Olsen caught a pass for us.  I'm sure it happened once or twice, but I don't remember it.

As of now we have about $8-10 mil in cap space for next season. That is before the Hardy deal (I think he will be tagged) and the Cam extension. And Mitchell plus the other UFA will want back.

I don't know if Gettleman will be able to work enough room for a big WR but I'm not a GM so I don't know.

Oline oline oline oline!!!! Cam will find receivers If he has the time and the RBs need room to work. I say again, oline oline oline oline.

I'd much rather get a vet lineman in FA than take my chances in the draft. It sounds kind of counter-intuitive when I say it, but I kind of feel that a rookie lineman has a steeper learning curve than a WR in reference to making the quicker impact at the pro level.  Or, maybe it's just that rookie receivers' feats are more publicized.

In all honesty, there's not much veteran options. Boldin won't be worth what he wants at his age. He'll probably end up back in Arizona or something. Decker would be good, but we need a possession wide receiver, not another slot WR we won't use.

You do realize Boldin said the only team he wanted to play for was the 49ers, or he was gonna retire?
