Guess what coveted WR by some Huddlers didn't have a TD catch in 2013

Yeah, there is that. I guess my point is that I have faith in DG to fix our problem areas. He made a believer out of me last offsesaon.

I would agree, but this offseason is going to be filled with our FAs (tons of them), filling needs, and managing a crappy cap situation. We will definitely see what he's made of this offseason and be able to judge better.

About WRs...I BIG TIME on the Landry bandwagon. There's a decent shot of grabbing him in the 2nd, too.

Charlotte's own, Hakeem Nicks.

Hometown boy. Tie to G-man. Unless he's giving a serious discount, I will pass. The risk is too much in my estimation. I don't want to give much needed dollars to a guy who has suspect sticks. Seriously, at this point I don't even know if he is better than what we have on the roster right now. He seems to have lost a step and is unable to get separation. His big frame and ability to out-muscle smaller DBs for targets is the only enticement that I see in regards to Nicks, and that's not enough in my estimation to prolifically upgrade our WR corps. I'd rather take my chances with fresh legs.

And that's why he is still worth bringing in. This kind of WR is exactly what Cam needs... a security blanket. A guy he can throw it to and trust he'll be the one to come down with it. Smitty has been that guy but he's not the same "jump ball" guy he was in his prime. Cam needs a guy with a wide catch radius like Nicks.

Also, you might want to look at the year Eli had before writing Nicks off for his subpar season.

I rather draft a WR that is younger & cheaper that fits into the Panther scheme.

I say wait and see what our cap situation looks like and what we feel our main priorities will be at draft time.  Couple of outstanding WR prospects out there, but the way we're winning that likelihood is looking less and less.

WR free agents for what we're looking for isn't a large list.  Decker isn't it.  Nicks about the only real candidate for what we're looking for, but we'll see.  Got to find someone out there.  I'd even say consider a guy like Ebron, but with Olsen and our need of Hartsock's blocking...I wish we could grab him.  Maybe even do something crazy like trade Olsen while hot (I know...crazy), but if Ebron can do what Olsen's done with upside in athleticism...would you do it?  Still too early to say.  Combines will help out too.  Understand...in no way am I wanting to rid of Olsen...simply a business decision depending on what can be gotten for him.

Zero TD catches on the entire season sure would be quite the security blanket. Great idea.

People just think the guy is going to sign for peanuts, he's going to command at least $30-40 million for his contract.

Nicks 25 years old 896 yards in a really down year

Lafell 27 years old! 627 yards in his career year.

Injuries are a huge concern for Nicks but Lafell is at his physical peak and still inconsistant with his hands which Nicks excells at. At 25 years old if he passes his physical and shows no chronic injury other than his damn hammies(Mushin Muhammed had this issue too) then he would be an upgrade as a WR that would be capable of being the #1 guy.

Lafell, Ginn, Hixon are not #1 guys but having Mcnutt to develop may give a true #2...not ignoring Smitty but needing to realize he will go to the slot and retire sooner than later. It is why having an established career proven Nicks would be benificial to the offense.

Also Ginn might pull the Rocket Ismail on us rejuvinating his career here then taking big bucks somewhere else...and he is a bright spot in this WR corp.

Of coure id pass if he is demanding even Greg Jennings money.

I don't know what you mean about zero catches.  He had quite a few catches and had a YPC of 16.  He had a pretty good year overall, and if he's cheap, there's no reason not to.

BUT you are right about his contract likely being high.  I don't know if he'll be that high though, he had a down year and has some injury issues, so...
