Sound Off: Packers, Niners, or Eagles?

Here's a question....would you rather have them in the 2nd round or at home in the NFCC game?

Great question..................let's see, for that to happen.

Saints would win and go to Seattle. Then SF beats GB and comes here.

That would probably mean if we win then we'd be going to Seattle or have Saints here??..............nope don't want that.

I want SF here in the NFCC...........and the Saints out of it early in Philly.

You guys are worrying about who can beat Seattle, but that's irrelevant if we don't win our game. I see a lot of you picking Philly, trust me we want no parts of Philly. We don't have the offense to keep up and they have the speed to torch our secondary.

Our best chance of advancing is to play The packers and then worry about who and where we play next.

Yep....that's what it's all about to me, and I think Hatter is right there with me, hosting the NFCC game gives us the best chance at the Super Bowl.  Doesn't mean we can't get there other ways or that we're definitely there if it is at home, but having that game at home means 1) we are at home (duh), and 2) we're not playing IN Seattle.  That gives us the best chance of making it.

so just to get it straight, we should rooting for the Eagles (yuck) and 9ers this weekend? and then for the 9ers next saturday?

This is slightly off topic... but i stumbled across the WSJ AccuScore playoff calculator this evening and fooled around with it for about half an hour. came up with some interesting results... what dost thou think, O Huddle?

Using the WSJ AccuScore gadget, which simulates each playoff game 10,000 times play-by-play, I reiterated the computations until each team had one Super Bowl win. It took 105 iterations, with Kansas City being the last team to notch a win. I received the following amounts and percentages for each of the current crop of playoff teams. I find it interesting that the Patriots and Panthers lead their conferences in SB-win-chance. I also found that during the iterations, the Panthers met the Patriots in the Super Bowl quite often. And when the two teams met, the Panthers won the majority of those meetings. This is all statistical analysis and worth nothing come gameday. But its still interesting nonetheless…

Seahawks     12     11%

Broncos          7     7%

Panthers       14     13%

49ers              3     3%

Patriots         20     19%

Saints              8     8%

Bengals           6     6%

Colts             11     10%

Chiefs             1     1%

Eagles          12     11%

Chargers        2     2%

Packers          9     9%

                  105

Predictions Based on Chances to Win SB

Saints @ Eagles -> Eagles

49ers @ Packers -> Packers

Chiefs @ Colts -> Colts

Chargers @ Bengals -> Bengals

Eagles @ Panthers -> Panthers

Packers @ Seahawks -> Seahawks

Colts @ Patriots -> Patriots

Bengals @ Broncos -> Broncos

Panthers @ Seahawks -> Panthers

Patriots @ Broncos -> Patriots

Panthers v. Patriots-> Patriots

a few more notes... i am not sure that Green Bay will win at home versus the 49ers, nor do i want them to. I also think the Chargers, Chiefs, and 49ers are bigger threats than these statistics indicate. and as i mentioned before... the Panthers usually won in the simulations when paired against the Patriots in the Super Bowl. This, of course, is the desired outcome anyway. :)

Philly barely beat Dallas and let Minny score 50

Do I want any parts of Philly AT HOME? Yes

With C.J back I dont expect teams to have time to throw deep constantly like Tampa and Miami

I stopped reading after a few pages, so I apologize if this is already covered...

I want the most physical team to play Seattle in the divisional round. The two most physical teams are the Niners and the Taints.

The Niners were the hottest team in the NFL down the stretch. I do NOT want to face them again, especially off a bye week given our recent history off bye weeks. They have the best chance of winning in Seattle. If we then win our game, the Niners would probably struggle playing two physical teams back to back.

The Taints all but limped into the playoffs. But they are still a physical team. I definitely have not written them off in Philly. I doubt they could beat the Seahawks in Seattle, but they can wear them down.

So, for me, the ideal situation is for the Niners and Iggles to win. We face the Eagles while the other two NFC teams basically maul one another.

Second best scenario would be to face GB and have the Taints soften up the Hawks.

Third best is we get Eagles and the Hawks get GB.

The worst that would happen would be to face the Niners. (Plus that means the Taints won)

You mean the Eagles that went 1-1 against both the Cowboys and Giants...and barely beat the Skin? Or the Eagles that have only beaten one playoff team....the Packers when Rogers was out? Or the team that got crushed by every other good team they played?

Eagles do not scare me

If Eagles win, we play them in Charlotte, period.  Winner of the other game, hoping it is SF, goes to Seattle.  Best scenario for us in my opinion

Only SF has a chance of beating Seattle and then coming here for championship game.  GB will get killed in Seattle

I agree 100%

Seattle has the defense to slow and contain Rogers and company. However, GB 'a defense is do bad that Sesttle might hang 50 on them.

It's all about match ups and we don't match up well with the eagles. They didn't barely beat Washington they were thumping Washington and then went into cruise control.

Your forgetting one small detail. Nick Foles. They've only lost one game since he's become the starter and he has a better quarterback rating than fuging Peyton Manning. O yea and that game they lost Minnesota had to put up 48 points to do it. You see this team putting up 48?

The only two other good offenses that came to Charlotte were New England and New Orleans and we needed last minute drives to pull it out.

Matchups people. We don't matchup well with the Eagles

We lost to the Eagles 14-9 in preseason and we are a much better team now.

Our defense should rattle Foles....as I said, they have lost to every good team they played.

You can't deny they've been a different team with Foles in the lineup. All of those loess came with Vick and Barkley. And if you watched that preseason game our defense looked lost. The score doesn't indicate what the game looked like when the starters were out there. It does give me confidence that our defense is a lot better now than it was then.

Still don't sleep on the Eagles. I don't think they'll get by the Saints because the Saints can put up the points, but they're a dangerous team
