Am I the only person in Pantherdom that is remembering this offense is just missing Agent 89?

The game we scored 30 in, 7 of those were from the defense and another TD came off a blocked punt.

I think the offense will be waaaay better with Smitty, personally, but I'm still concerned with shula's playcalling.

So the whole basis of WE'RE DOOOOOOOOOOOOMED stems from the Jets game 3 weeks ago that we won with ease? If that's our level of concern, I'm feeling pretty damn good about our chances. Just think about the concerns other teams have.

Please shut up about that. I got mad with Cam early in the year and paid up when I didn't have to. This after being one of his biggest supporters up until early this year and having created the big, definitive thread about why we should draft him in Early 2011. You people need to get over it. If I was to bump up all of the incredibly glowingly positive threads people had about the Panthers in years past that were laughably wrong, it would dwarf my Cam can't win thread from this season.

Sounds like somebody was sad about eating crow

Nah, it's not just that.  It's just the general "feel" of the last few games.

I don't think we're doomed at all.  I think Smitty gives this offense at least one extra scoring drive per game the last 3 weeks, which means we've got some comfortable wins, relatively speaking, lol

It's definitely a lil more than that, but yes missing Steve changes things a lot as with almost every QB that has a main number 1 WR

I'm glad he didn't downright look worthless without 89 like some QB's *cough*

They still put 2 TD's on the board and sometimes that's all that it takes. But that last drive, 3 runs and playing 10 miles off is what worries me

With 89 since the Minnesota game, we're averaging 25.4 points a game which would be 11th in the league if extrapolated over the entire season. Offense is fine.

1) "with"..... a player we dont have currently

2) "since" ...... a random game

3) "averaging 35.4 points"....... not taking into account all the defensive TDs, blocked punts, and amazing field position we've had

4) "would be 11th" ....... theres 12 playoff teams, so we're better than 1? great

5) "if extrapolated" ......... numbers don't work like that. If you took Hardy's 4 sacks yesterday and "extrapolated" them through a whole season, he would have had 64 this year. you want to just pretend that he actually did that as well?

Glad I could only point out 5 flaws in your 1 sentence.

Last 4 games:

Week 14: Saints. Terrible offense. Scored 1 TD and it came during garbage time when game was completely out of hand

Week 15: Jets. 1 Lucky screen pass to DWill. That's it. ONE play. Besides that we had a blocked punt and defensive TD. Terrible offense

Week 16: Absolutely atrocious. Our offense was utterly dominated for 59 minutes. Had Ginn not made a great snag, we'd be off to Lambeau this week. We had 11 drives: 7 of them went 3-and-out and 1 was an interception. Horrendous.

Week 17: 2 good drives against the #27 rated defense, in a game our guys couldn't possibly be more pumped for

Will Smitty help this offense? sure. But using the word "fine" in any context referring to our offense is almost laughable.

1) "with"..... a player we dont have currently: Read the thread. I said without Smith it will be a concern, but people are acting like it makes no difference if we have him or not.

2) "since" ...... a random game: ??? That was the start of winning 11 of 12 games.

3) "averaging 35.4 points"....... not taking into account all the defensive TDs, blocked punts, and amazing field position we've had: And? That's part of it. Did the Broncos not have defensive TDs and good field position off turnovers?

4) "would be 11th" ....... theres 12 playoff teams, so we're better than 1? great: You don't need to have the top scoring offense when you have a defense as stout as ours. An 11th scoring offense combined with 2nd scoring defense equals a Super Bowl caliber team

5) "if extrapolated" ......... numbers don't work like that. If you took Hardy's 4 sacks yesterday and "extrapolated" them through a whole season, he would have had 64 this year. you want to just pretend that he actually did that as well?: Just making the point that the offense has been good to great since the Minnesota game

Last 4 games:

Week 14: Saints. Terrible offense. Scored 1 TD and it came during garbage time when game was completely out of hand: Name a team that has done things differently against the Saints in NO in primetime

Week 15: Jets. 1 Lucky screen pass to DWill. That's it. ONE play. Besides that we had a blocked punt and defensive TD. Terrible offense: Not really. Terrible RED ZONE offense okay sure. That's it.

Week 16: Absolutely atrocious. Our offense was utterly dominated for 59 minutes. Had Ginn not made a great snag, we'd be off to Lambeau this week. We had 11 drives: 7 of them went 3-and-out and 1 was an interception. Horrendous.: No 89

Week 17: 2 good drives against the #27 rated defense, in a game our guys couldn't possibly be more pumped for: No 89

Based on the last 4 games, with or without Smitty, this offense is questionable. Yes, we won, yes, the D had to step up, and yes we should be more effective. Too many run plays that went nowhere, too many dropped passes, too many sailed passes for that matter... But the team got 3-of-4 Ws, that should be all that matters.

It was good enough to for the end of the season, but is it good enough to grab Ws in the postseason? We'll know in 2 weeks, and hopefully again in 3 & 5 weeks later....
