Officially Concerned about the Offense

Can I just ask this question?

This is the first year cam as a qb has been relevant as he's made it into the playoffs obviously, if your gettleman this is the scenario you have a 25 year old qb who looks every bit a franchise qb for the next ten plus years, do you go out and just give him a contract now leaving hardly any possible cap room knowing you have Greg hardy also to negotiate with and leave cam frustrated more so with the lack of weaponry around him to utilize all his ability or do you wait another year and try with cap room and hopefully a good draft give him a decent line to protect him and maybe a few weapons also and show him he's your future and you want to build around him but your just delaying his big deal for one yet only!.

I know it may sound long winded but I'm interested in what people may think is the best solution

You have no idea what you are talking about.

First...the entire offense is a little off right now.  They were clicking mid way through the season, but have struggled some the last 4-5 games.

This struggle has been a combination of playcalling, execution by the OL, WR's not getting great separation.....and Cam having an issue throwing high again.  I have seen way more high and off target passes the past few games that he exhibited in the middle of the season.  I am sure this will be an area of focus during the next two weeks.

What has changed from prior years is Cam's ability to dig down deep and make plays when we absolutely need them at the end of the game....he has been spectacular at that.

But, your constant diatribes about how any other aspect of this team should be critiqued (but Cam should be off limits) is absurd.

SMH

Sometimes reading is fundamental.

You don't deserve a cogent, or further response (this is may last one).

Please stop. It's/your embarrassing.

Can we lock this thread?

It is quickly evolving into irrational and crazy

Why lock this thread as if that will stop it.  Since we drafted Cam it has polarized our fan base like little else.  The most annoying group for me are the Cam nuthuggers who are so defensive you can't every say anything about him without someone pulling out the race card or talking about how the criticism was undeserved.  I was one of the most vocal supporters of cam when we were considering drafting him.  I have his jersey which I wear some game days. I have to split between Mills, Cam, Williams, Smitty, etc.  Nonetheless, I have also criticized him at times just like I have criticized other players when they struggled.

Any time Cam gets criticized it is because he is black. Is any time Russell Wilson gets criticized because he is black.  What?  You say that Wilson doesn't get criticized as much as Cam?  How can that be if it is a racial issue? Did I miss something and Wilson isn't black??  Or maybe it isn't race but something else that polarizes fans towards or against Cam.

That is the issue really, the criticism about Cam isn't racial and while it may not be all deserved some of it is.  It goes with being the face of the franchise.  Cam has great potential but up until this year it didn't translate into wins. And since it has, the criticism has been much less. Look at RGIII.  Last year he got little criticism and everyone was on his bandwagon.  This year he has received much criticism.  Because he was black or because the team was awful?  I think it was due to the team not race.

So quit with the race card, it just doesn't fit or explain what is going on here in Carolina.

In b4 this goes to the tinderbox.

With RGII and Kaep getting love and praise in the NFL....and Bridgewater being considered the top pick....I think the whole discrimination against the black QB is ridiculous and should be put to bed.

I agree that Cam has endured more criticism and crap from the media that RGII/Kaep and a hell of a lot more than he has EVER deserved.  But, I do not think it is because of the color of his skin.

I am not exactly sure why he rubbed the media the wrong way.

Had stolen laptop in college.....hell, all of my electronics in college were bought for way below market value and had a 99.9% chance of being hot

Plagerized on a paper in college....anyone who says they have never plagerized on a term paper is likely a liar

Dad supposedly trying to get money for his play....nothing to do with Cam even if it was true

Entertainer/Icon statement....maybe not the smartest thing he said, but was no big deal.  He has proven to be a great teamate and leader.  Guy definitely has a strong work ethic

We will end all of this media crap this offseason.  Once we hoist the Lombardi, Cam will be viewed as an elite QB.  A QB who can still improve and develop (which is even scarier)....but an elite QB none the less.

Only a Lombardi trophy can cure the fuging ills of the media

Actually it makes little sense to make Cam your first priority when you have a ton of other players on 1 year contracts or going to free agency. Some of those pieces to help him like Ginn for example need to be signed long term.  And you need to decide if guys like Munnerlyn are worth keeping or need upgrading.Cam is already signed through 2014 and we have an option year for 2015 so really there is no reason to jump in to sign him before we lock up other folks.  Cam is going to get his money no matter when you sign him.  Financially it would actually be appropriate to sign him after 2014 when the TV money kicks in supposedly in 2015.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the Atlanta/SF game the week before.

It was SF's last game in Candlestick. They were trying to win their division too, and are viewed as a serious threat for the SB. In comparison, we were on the road against a division rival that knows us very well, and it was the final game for a future HOF member.

In case you didn't see it, SF was in serious jeopardy of losing the game until a fluke interception bailed them out.

This is what I've been saying to other fans that are mad about us not beating the falcons by more. The San Fran point is very valid. They are considered the "Hot" team right now and they came within seconds of losing to the Falcons at home on Monday Night Football. Sunday was Atlanta's Super Bowl. Gonzalez retiring...all like you said plus without our #1 WR. I think it's a positive that we can go in and beat a team that is that pumped up without Steve. I don't care if it's pretty or we win by 1 , 6 or 30 from here on out. I will take us winning in the clutch of close, tight  games over blowouts. Any game vs Seattle or San Fran will be close and we are primed to win those kind of games. That is what got us to the SB in 03.

I think with the bye, at home, and Steve back we will see our best game all season in 2 weeks. I don't think it's coincidence we saw Cam run more than all season long last Sunday. Shula's been keeping that in our back pocket. Whoever comes into BofA  better be ready for a 60 minute war
