Officially Concerned about the Offense

What is so funny is, the Panthers is a very good team. Yes, they have holes that need to be fix on both sides of the ball, ut folks are harping on about the Offense, or should I say Cam as if this team was playing like the Giants.  Far from it.

But let's face it, even with the Offense struggles, they are putting up enough points on the board which makes the defense work not in vain. For the past two seasons, the Defense never did such a thing for the Offense when they were the ones carring this team. It was heartbreaking watching the Offense put up #s and they were never enough because of the defense gave them all back by allowing the opposing teams to score so easily. Even worst was coming on this site and reading some of the ridiculous threads where fans were faulting the Offense and saying the same BS they are bitching about with Cam and the Offense. He wasn't good enough when the Offense was playing well and the Defense wasn't, and he's not good enough now. I guess he will never be good enough then. Might as well trade him. :)

Like usual you overreact whenever anyone says anything critical about Cam as if you have placed him on a pedestal and he can do no wrong.  Everyone needs to find their culprit whenever we don't steam roll opponents.  Some blame the coach, others the players, some blame everyone. And then we have the Cam huggers who blame everyone but Cam despite how he plays or struggles.  Lets be real here, He has had a 100 passer rating or higher in only 2 of the past 10 games. What he is doing this year is making winning drives in the fourth quarter.  No matter how bad he played the rest of the day he is money when it counts and that is the most important thing an NFL quarterback can do.

Actually, Cam also completed 60% of his passes his rookie year when he threw for over 4000 yards. Whose tribute was that to? Fail!

I think that was due to not having any film on him and surprising a lot of DC when they first played him.  Last year it went down to 57% and now it is at almost 62% this year.  Of all the things I said this is what you picked to dispute.  And your point wasn't even valid given that Shula was responsible for his improvement as a rookie being his quarterback coach. The rumor has been that Chud got too cute and went all read option and there was talk that Chud didn't think Cam could read defenses and limited him audiblizing.  Shula simplified things and let Cam have more control over the offense and plays to his strengths which is why he is playing his best in his 3 years.  Once again your oversimplification suggests you haven't been here enough to know what we as the fanbase think or don't think and you are either looking for a fight or trolling.

It seems most Panthers  fans on this board do not really care for Cam Newton as a quarterback. As a Viking fan living in Charlotte how would you all feel about a trade for a first round pick ? Do you think the Panthers would consider trading Newton before his rookie contract is up ? I think a trade like this would be great for both sides. The Panthers have a great defense and really could put anyone in at quarterback and the Vikings with AP and Cam would be deadly.

Hell no.  Don't take the opinion of a few mouth breathers on this board as the majority opinion on Cam.  That most definitely isn't the majority opinion.

And I'm still LOL'ing at the dumbass however many pages back that said Cam's WRs have been consistently bailing him out this season.  I don't know what games you've been watching this season dude, but it sure as hell hasn't been Carolina Panther games.  That statement really couldn't be any further from the truth.

Go watch Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, etc. if you wanna see some WRs bailing their QBs out.  Cam consistently has to be on the money with his passes if he wants his receivers to catch them.  It's why the offense problems become so glaring when Cam has one of his off games and starts sailing his passes.

Never going to happen.

Panther fans may not care much for Newton, but the team isn't letting him get away

people point to the few balls he overthrows per game, but ignore the drops, the lack of effort, and the inability to get open.

it's retarded.

Cam has things to work on, BUT EVERY QB DOES.  Nobody is perfect, ESPECIALLY not at 3 years.

I'm still waiting for all these examples...

Usually an offense either has at least one of these three things:

1. Receivers who can make spectacular possession catches to extend drives, but not do much else afterwards.

2. Receivers who can make plays with the ball in their hands and get chucks of YAC.

3. A running game that torches/bruises defenses.

Good offenses have a balance of all three or are good in two of the three.  Great offenses are good in all three.

We literally have none of those three things.  Our QB and a sure-handed TE who falls after being grazed and runs like he's stuck in mollasses is essentially our entire offense.

haha Olsen, I love him, but fug is that an apt description. I like when he tried to reverse field and just fell over so he caught the ball EXACTLY where it was thrown, where if he'd just kept moving forward he woulda gotten at least 3 more yards.

All that said, he's the one player I really can't complain in a serious fashion about.  He DOES go after balls as much as he can.

I don't think you are getting an accurate Panther fan assessment from this board.

Personally, I am very happy with Newton so far.  Of course, that doesn't mean I won't criticize him if I think he is screwing up.  He gets the same treatment as any other player.  But he gets a lot more attention than most other players.  That goes with being the qb.

Yep, him and Smitty are the only two options we had that were consistently worth a crap.  Depending on what day it is LaFell just completely decides to take the day off.
