Panthers likely to begin contract discussions with Cam this Offseason

Cam contract will be of league wide importance bc not only was he the first #1 overall drafted with the next tier system in place he will be the first to get his extension...

I would be prepared for Cam to get a very big deal.

Why? Bc the tier system made him one of he most underpaid players in the NFL over the last 3 years. He didn't get the Sam Bradford cash. New tier system meant players essentially had to show they are the big bucks guys were getting day 1.....

So I expect Cam's new deal will also address the difference in money he didn't get under his rookie deal....

I don't think this will drive the contract up much but you could be right.

 

It would sort of ruin the idea of the collective bargaining agreement though.

GMan:  So you remember how bad it felt those first two years when we lost more than we won

 

Cam:  I do..I do...some of the hardest years of my life as a player

 

GMan:  We understand you did a lot this year with a few more weapons but nothing great other then smitty and olsen to throw to at this point. 

 

Cam:  True, but my Oline is makeshift at best with a few solid pieces.  Hell we have a DE playing on the line this year and starting.

 

GMan:  I understand.  So lets give you a good contract that allow us to better Oline, a WR on the free market or draft, and will give us a little wiggle room to resign Hardy.  That Def is pretty elite and man Im sure you feel better when we are in the lead and they have our backs.  (instead of saying man thank god that Def saved our asses half the year)

 

Cam:  True.  I had a nice long talk with MJ and to create a Dynasty you have to make changes.  I want to paid, I know im not elite yet at throwing but man i can do things no one else can.  Remember I got you a ring this year too.

 

GMan:  True.  Ok 16 million 6 years 40 million guaranteed.

 

Cam:  ok here, lets do 15 million 6 years 50 million guaranteed.

 

GMan:  ok done.  as he keep staring that new superbowl ring.

None of those so called "elite" QBs are throwing as perfect as you folks seem to want Cam to be. Unlike Cam, those QBs have REAL good Receivers around them to make them look very good. One of the reasons why Brady's stats have been down this season. We won't even talk about the other "elite qb' Matthew Stafford. He's an Ints. machine but no one seems to want to be honest and point that out. IMO, "elite" is another word for "tradtional QB."

 

Also, ask yourself this question, if Cam was Luck and doing what he's doing for this team, would you seriously want him to get paid the amount of money you're offering Cam? Cam not only have assisted in this team wins since 2011 but improved the team's record, even thou it was by one with a defense that SUCKED. Also, according to your fantasy, he has brought this franchise a SB ring in his third season as your QB, something not even Peyton did. And you're paying him WHAT?! 

 

I understand some of you seem spoiled by this team getting to the SB so quickly in it's young franchised years that your thought pattern seems to be SB or BUST but maybe it's time to appreciate where this team was before Cam and where it seems to be going post Cam and simply go along for the ride. It might just make the trip to that SB even more special.

Carolina is essentially is in the drivers seat to set the tone for how teams will treat these players from this new tier system

My guess is how drastically underpaid Newton has been gets addressed

Wouldn't be shocking if it were 6 years $110m with a few playoff wins. That would make him around #6 highest paid. 

 

One and done and I'll stick with $15/year

 

 

Yeah, ask Joe Flacco if Post Season success gets you a big contract.

The sooner Gettlemen can start planning Cam's long term contract and fitting it under the cap the best way possible the better.

Getts has this and we all want Cam locked up long term.
