Seems right. Cam isn't getting $20M per year unless it is a quirky structure but he will get a very nice contract.

$4.5M for 4 years was my prediction for Rivera. The article notes that Fox was making $6M

Why do you even listen to this guy, when his analysis of Cam seemed "Media Standard (i.e. those that really don't watch and just parrot memes); while saying Rivera (who has even more to prove) gets $5mil a year after just one good season??

The Ryan and Romo contracts (plus inflation, a possible deep Panther run) will make Newton's value higher than that, unless he doesn't want it to be.

Remember, you have to take team dynamics into consideration. The Panthers have had nothing to cheer about in years, and if they lost Newton to Free Agency, the fans would never forgive the front office. You think Cam's replaceable on this team?

That  former executive, is just giving a rote take on Cam ('accuracy from the pocket; may get hurt do to playing style'). This is not RG3 or Kaepernick we're talking about here! And he mysteriously sounds like Bill Polian to me (which would disqualify him immediately along with comparing Cam to Matt Schuab). Lol

Plus, if you read any article on Cam the past three years, Rivera and the coaches (and I'm sure Gettleman does/will) love him!!! He's given them no reason to think he's not worth keeping, at almost any cost; just by their words.

I think the "evolution" of Cam is sort of ironic.  Yes he's cleaned up some things, and he's become pretty clutch.  However, I think there's been more of an evolution of the perception of Cam Newton by the fans and the media this season.   Maybe it's because he's winning.  What he's showing though,  is that he's always been a good guy.  He's done a good job of hanging in there and coming through the other side.

A lot of people were skeptical that he would even entertain the idea of staying a Panther after is contract has run out.  Myself, included.  I appreciate that Cam has been very transparent and loyal to us, and he really does deserve a big time pay upgrade.

Not sure what you are blathering on about but I am predicting $15-18M per year. If you think it will be $20M that's great. I just don't think it will be that high.

You initially said 6 yrs $90 million, then changed it, when every body laughed at your numbers. So stop. We saw you do that.

Then you tried to have some unknown hack analysis [nonetheless] bolster your claims, which you reiterated once again (despite your new funny number/range claim of "$15-$18" mil after everyone's protest).

Please stop now, when you already been behind.

PS: I'm saying Cam will get (or at least the market will be there for him) $18-20 mil a year, unless he's franchised for $15-$16 mil a yr this season.

I predicted 6 years $90 and didn't change anything but later said I wouldn't be surprised at 6 $110 if he does well in the playoffs.

That's my range. I'm not sure what you want me to "stop" or why you are so frustrated over an opinion.

I realize that these are two completely different sports especially when it comes to physical risk, but until Jordan's last three years with the Bulls, he wasn't even top 20 in the league in salary, for that very reason.

If both sides want to get this done and don't nickel and dime each other I think we could get this done fairly quickly, and although Cam will get what he deserves I don't think he will try to hold the team hostage like Drew Brees did.

Cam stated when he immediately signed his rookie contract that it was more money than he ever dreamed about. he didn't understand rookies holding out.  I think Cam is going to get a monster contract comparatively speaking to other players. but i wouldn't be surprised if he left between 10 and 20 mill on the table for the team. especially with his sponsorship money.

people need to shed the image that Cam is in it for the money and to be an "entertainer and an icon." Cam wants to win "in a bad way" as Rivera has stated over and over.  I believe Cam will do what's best for the team moving forward. I think he feels like he's finally found a home.

No frustration at all. No sir-ee.

However, that appears to be you; still trying to explain your back track. Lol

Just give it up now. We saw, read it.

No need to respond, if we're done talking.

You said he backtracked which he didn't.

He added the additional numbers later/after others vehemently disagreed.

There was no range originally.

There's quite a difference between $15 mil a yr, and $18 mil a year in todays NFL.

One is half between $10-$20 mil. And the other is closer to $20 mil; not including it's impact on the salary cap and other players/free agents you could acquire with that extra 3mil a year.

That should be self explanatory/contract 101.

To each his own.
