Panthers likely to begin contract discussions with Cam this Offseason

Or if the offense could finish a game last year, looking at you Atlanta and Seattle.

Couldn't you easily say the defense blew the Atlanta and Seattle Games (along with Tampa Bay and Dallas, etc.)??

Yes, D'Angelo fumbled, and Cam made that silly throw while playing Seattle. But most of those other close losses, can be pinned fairly on the defense, that  blew leads with minimal time left and no time outs for the opposition after the Panthers offense scored; so not securing game winning drives.

I think cam wants to reup with us because he knows this franchise is trying to get better. Our defense is legit and if we keep hardy we will be top 5' in the league for the next 3 years or so guaranteed.

I feel like our team is basically our ridiculous defense and what ever we get from cam on offense. The only other special player on offense is Khalil and center is not a dominating position. I think as an organization we need to do what it takes to keep our defense dominant and find more pieces for our offensive line. I don't think good money or assets(high draft picks) should be sent on offensive skill positions.

Or if the offense had been more consistent.....damn you Chud

Take if from me, your offense may be struggling this season but they are far from inconsistency when it comes to the actual game. They have played quite well these last three seasons. 6-10, 7-9 without much help from the defense, and 12-4 with a defense who finally showed up. Now that is quite consistent.

Interesting group of statements. Spoken just like a fan who only sees the parts of his team that is being hyped.

My biggest fear with this team is that they will fall back into that mindset that they got stuck in after 2008 season. The attitude many on here still seem quite stuck in. Refusing to see the real issues with  this team and believing a quick fix here and there will do the trick. Your offense held up this team while the defense got their acts together. It's now time to FIX your OFFENSE so your QB can have some solid go to guys. Smitty is almost 40. I seriously doubt he will be able to keep up with the 2o year olds, no matter how much some of you want to believe he can.

I wacthed the Eagles game tonight and I see why Foles only have two Ints. The Eagles have a very good running game. It's real cool to see RBs rushing for yards and getting them with every posession. It's good to see Receivers going up in the air for balls knowing their QB isn't going to perfecrly place every ball in their hands. And you also want to know what I noticed...Not one of those Analysts critiquing every throw or mechanics of either QBs despite there being quite a bit of over and under throws. I guess that is ONLY reserved for Cam, the QB folks want to believe isn't very good at what he does despite what he's ACTUALLY doing for a team with no real running game nor consistent go to Receivers. Amazing.

This team seriously need to now spend time FIXING the Offense that have been doing their part for the past three seasons.

I agree with you. I am amazing at how quickly some Panthers fans can put anything negative about this defense out of their heads but will harp on endlessly over any small thing the offense does, and have their eyes firmly glued on everything Cam.

Its no wonder they are acting the way they are with the defense this season. They seem to have it in their minds that nothing is every wrong with their defense and the Offense is always the problem regardless of the truth. This is why i have a strong feeling Cam will never get the weapons he needs around him. Those in the media will never call this team out on it's weaknesses because they honestly don't care about this team and fans will continue the 'we don't see anything wrong with our team that Cam can't deal with if he would just....

I don't think the only parts of the team I watch is cam and the defense. I just don't see any great pieces on our offense. Aside from Khalil our line is mediocre(gross) to horrible(right side). I don't think our wide receivers are very good even with smith and Olsen(average nfl TE). Our running backs are solid at best(Williams) or under used(Tolbert). Yet here we are at 12 and 4.

Truly the best way for us to improve long term is to upgrade our o line. OT also happens to be the best bang for buck position to puck in the first round.

If Cam could learn some touch receivers wouldn't "drop" as many or have as many get tipped. Some passes require the fastball, others don't. He doesn't seem to know which is which consistently yet. Putting some air under the ball gives it an easier trajectory to catch and allows a receiver to adjust to an imperfect ball. That deep ball to Smith was beautiful last week, putting air under it, allowing Smith to adjust and having it fall in his hands. He just doesn't do that consistently enough at all levels, not just the deep ball.
