I'm still baffled by this..........

If we win on Sunday, we get the week off and will probably get the winner of the Philly/Saints game (barring some upsets)

Both teams can put up huge numbers.  It is hard to imagine our defense having to pitch another game like was just concluded.  So, we need points, at least 24 in my opinion

Rewatch that final drive and you will see Cam step up into the pocket instead of back as he has been doing. I think he finally realized his ankle/foot would not allow him to run so he decided to be a pocket passer and depend on his o line to protect him.

I do not want us to have to wait until "Cam Time" as I don't believe in smoke and mirrors.  It is a good spin and makes us feel good, but wont get you too far in the playoffs.  I want us to capitalize on each possession as if it is our last.  The Defense played lights out all game long just to give us a shot at a win.  If they had only clicked on only one possession against the Saints, we would have lost by 40 pts and the last drive by the Panthers would not have mattered.

I just can't give a pass to Shula, the OLine or Cam for 3 and a half qtrs of poor football.  To get where we want to be, both sides of the ball will need to be clicking for 4 qtrs.

It seems a lot of times that the plays called by Shula that keep the defense honest are wasted downs for us............I don't want to see our offensive turn into some cute trick play team every possession they have either..........there has to be some happy medium between the two.

I really like plays when Cam attempts to sell a fake.......like the fake screen that ended with DW scoring a TD against the Jets.

On that play Cam pumped a fake and the receiver (Tolbert?) jumped up with his hands like he was catching the ball..........before the switch was on to DW.

You might have the best observation yet...............it makes sense.

With less than a minute to go you can't scramble to move chains...........so you know you will be setting up to pass......hence the better feet work.

The preceding possessions Cam's thinking.....pass or scramble and maybe the footwork is out of sync?

Cam stopped checking down. He stopped playing conservative. That pass over the middle to Ginn was going to be a big play for us or a big play for them. He avoids those throws because our defense is so good but it was do or die time.

I tend to agree with this line of thinking. Cam is trying to keep from making a mistake the defense can't overcome, so he plays conservatively/game manager-esque. I wish he would just let loose and play. Make the anticipation throws, relying on his receivers to break open - like he did on those three completions on the final drive. He normally doesn't pull the trigger until his receiver is open. Luckily he has enough arm to pull it off. And for goodness sakes, run the ball when no one is open instead of waiting for your receiver to figure out a way to get separation.

Cam has all the tools and ability to be a Brady, Brees or Manning. Just not sure he trusts what he sees yet.

Cam is at his best when he gets out of his own head and just plays ball. I suspect that last drive took away the luxury of the long drawn out Shula play calling and clock eating offense. Cam didn't have time to overthink his play.

I wonder how effective this offense could be with a couple of Hurry Up No Huddle drives thrown in to the mix?

(P.S. I wish I had read a little further into the thread before I posted this. )

Aye, he was throwing some frozen ropes out there, fundamentals be damned, no high passes just Players makin' plays.

Cam simply stopped being risk averse. But he made some incredible throws that would have ended the game if they had been slightly off, so there's a reason he plays risk averse and tries to protect the ball.

It's a pretty common trait for gunslingers. They can be off for an entire game and then suddenly come alive at the last minute and win it all.

Also a pretty good sign Newton is coming into his own, given that his MO for the first few seasons was to start out hot but then fade as the game wore on.

Cam missed 3 throws in the second half. Some of you are making it out to seem like he threw 3 int's and 10 incompletions.

2 to Olsen and 1 to Hixon. After Cam missed Hixon, the Saints took over and Brees missed a wide open Colston due to the ball being wet. Aikman even said this may have caused Cam's ball to sail high on the throw to Hixon. The conditions were crap, I wouldn't read to much into it.

This and his ankle obviously was bothering him. IMO a few drives getting used to the wet ball and playing on the ankle is all that was needed

But every thing about more no huddle offense is spot on
