Ever been to the finger lakes in new york? Beautiful part of the country, great place if you enjoy wine, and lots of great camping and hiking spots. Watkins glen state park is a favorite of mine. You're two hours from Niagara and could cross over to Toronto.

 

I'd save that for the summer... but a really, really good suggestion for another time of year (imo - others may disagree :) )
