The NBA All-Star Game Is A Disgrace

Before I get the comments like... "well duh" or "obviously"... Just look at the top vote getters in the Eastern Conference for the back-court.

1. Dwayne Wade (20 ppg, 5.0 apg, 4.8 rpg, 2.1 spg) note: Wade has only played 19 games.

2. Kyrie Irving (21.5 ppg, 6.0 apg, 3.0 rpg, 1.0 spg)

3. Derrick Rose (injured, out for the year)

4. John Wall (19.6 ppg, 9.1 apg, 4.3 rpg, 2.2 spg)

5. Ray Allen (10.6 ppg, 2.3 apg, 2.8 rpg)

6. Rajon Rondo (Injured, hasn't played a game all season)

7. Deron Williams (12.8 ppg, 7.4 apg, 2.2 rpg) note: Williams has only played 17 games

8. George Hill (10.8 ppg, 3.6 apg, 3.6 rpg, 1.0 spg)

9. Lance Stephenson (13.4 ppg, 5.1 apg, 6.7 rpg,

10. DeMar DeRozan (21.0 ppg, 3.4 apg, 4.1 rpg, 1.1 spg)

Yet you have Kemba Walker averaging: 18.7 ppg, 4.6 apg, 4.4 rpg, and 1.5 spg.

Averages more points than Rose, Allen, Rondo, Williams,Hill, and Stephenson

Averages more assists than Rose, Allen, Rondo, Hill, and DeRozan

Averages more rebounds than Irving, Rose, Wall, Allen, Rondo, Williams, Hill, and DeRozan

Averages more steals than Irving, Rose, Allen, Rondo, Hill Stephenson, and DeRozan

So what I'm getting is that two guys who are injured (Rose and Rondo) and Ray Allen, Deron Williams, George Hill, and Lance Stephenson deserve to be on the Eastern All-Star Team over Kemba? Gimme a break...

It should look something like this...

PG: Kyrie Irving, John Wall, Kemba Walker

SG: Dwayne Wade, DeMar DeRozan, (one of Afflao, Beal or Johnson)

Either they need to get rid of the All-Star game all together or the coaches need to start picking the teams because guys who are on small market teams (Walker) or on bad teams (Afflalo and Beal) are not getting any credit for the seasons that they are having.

its not based on stats, its a popularity contest

I'm aware but you would think the NBA or leagues in general (the MLB and NHL tend to do a good job) at making these games interesting by putting players in the game that actually deserve to be in the game. It might not be popular to put Aaron Afflalo in the All-Star game but by God if his play deserves it then stick his ass in there.

And for heavens sake at least make it where you can't vote for injure players.

    • well, the comparison is to last year.  The OL is a 180 degree from that.... and overall on the season they have had better skill talent for the same QBs behind a MUCH better OL.    So yeah, the O not looking any better overall is a red flag for Canales.
    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
