So how much of a discount will the Kracken give us?

I can't find the link anymore, but last June some nerd had a formula that put his value at a little over $9 million a year (second highest in the league based on 2012 production)

So, if that is what salary is based on (it isn't) how much has it fallen or risen this season?

The Kraken's Agent Drew Rosenhaus will likely be angling for something more than the five-year, $40 million deal Paul Kruger got from the Browns last offseason.

The Kruger contract could be a starting offer by the Panthers because it was reported earlier that a $32 million 4-year  deal had been turned down that would have paid him $8 million a season..That offer pales in comparison to the 6-year, $72 million deal signed by Charles Johnson in 2011.

Nothing. He already rejected a contract offer once. He's gone.

pretty sure Brett Jensen started that rumor. i think Hardy recently said his agent hasn't had any contact with Gettleman.

the article about Lafell's contract situation said the Gettleman wasn't doing any extensions during the season

Eh I think he's worth much more than Kruger was.

I believe  if the team lets Hardy try the open market,he doesn't cash in like Charles Johnson did in 2011. With no one willing to pay him the salary he's demanding, Greg then settles for a reasonable deal that locks him up in Carolina for a long time.

The market is just not there anymore, and Hardy seems to genuinely love this team. He would likely take slightly less for a longer contract. My guess is the $7-8 million range. This is all pure speculation but that's the logical way I see it working out.

Pay him what he's earned.  Just like every other working American demands.  You can't pay Williams, Stewart, Johnson all that money, (he's outperformed everyone but CJ) and then try to shortchange the Kraken or even get upset if he leaves.

I wonder how we'll get Stewart's contract off the books.

Your plan works, and would be followed, if it were not for the salary cap.  Kraken will go down as the greatest casualty of Hurney throwing money around like the Knicks.

Thanks to Gettleman though, I do not think we will have as many casualties as we previously would have.
