Just destroyed beef wellington, roasted dill potatos, steamed broccoli, baked parmesan tomatos and lots of red wine! Now saranac christmas ale and spiked hot apple cider. Im slowly slipping into a food/alcohol coma!

Last night I took my mother and stepdad to WD-50, famous for molecular gastronomy. It's run by Wylie Dufresne. We took part in their 13-course tasting menu:

 

Saffron-Coconut Ice Cream/Caviar/Poppy Seed

 

Cuttlefish/Fennel/Black Garlic-Feuilletine

 

Squash-Roasted Peanut Soup/Cockscomb/Fig Tobacco

 

Sweetbreads/Cucumber-Lychee/Tonic/Fermented Black Bean

 

Sea Scallop/Berbere Granola/Carrot/Marcona

 

Corned Beef Cheek/Tendon/Banana-Horseradish/Myoga

 

Mediterranean Bass/Celery/Macadamia/Grapefruit

 

Rabbit/Spring Onion/Hibiscus/Thai Basil

 

Cured Duck Breast/Curds-N-Whey/Sweet Potato/Rice Noodles

 

Bartlett Pear Sorbet/Honey-Milk Crisp/Tarragon

 

Key Lime Pie/Ritz Cracker/Cherry

 

Apple Tart/Concord Grape/Swiss Chard/Pistachio

 

Beer Malt Ice Cream/Pretzel/Passion Fruit

 

 

It was AMAZING. Tonight we ate at the SoHo Grand. I got Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes and fresh made Apple Cider Donuts.

 

Tomorrow it's Red Farm: greenmarket, modern and inventive Chinese, supercharged dim sum.

 

God I love living here.
