Rewatching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle trilogy

Can't believe I still remembered just about all of #1 and #2. It's hard for me to choose a fav, but I'd probably go with the first one since it gives the full background.

Number 3 I didn't quite like that much. However, it did have the most number of funny quotes out of the 3. I also didn't remember that much. Guess I didn't watch it as often when I was a kid. They made the turtles a lighter green, made the dots more noticeable, and the eyes larger. Felt more cartoony. I still enjoyed it though.

Still to this day I don't think there has been another "movie based off a cartoon" like these. They were really well done.

I got that 4 dvd set at wal mart I agree 1 and 2 are the best. 2 taking the title for me. Great movies for their time. 3 was terribad though imo.

Was it just me or did you have a hard time getting a good picture from the 1st movie? I tried like hell messing with my settings with no luck. It's hard to believe there is that much of a difference in picture quality from #1 to #2. They were only 1 year apart. Were they working on a low budget on the first one? Btw, I got the blue ray set of the 3 movies.

2 definitely had lighter picture. Were the directors the same? Maybe it was intended that way?

To this day i still say the first movie is the best super hero flick/comic book adaptation (prepares to be blasted for that). It stil holds up well today even without the use of cgi. I like the dark and gritty feel it provides over the cartoony vibe the 2nd and 3rd gave. It did it so well combining things fron the 80's cartoon plus a nod to the comic books. Like stated above in the sequels they barely used their weapons. Oh what i wouldnt give for a pg 13 or rated r ninja turtles movie, more truer to the comic book. Hardly anyone knows they all wore red, killed people, cursed, never ate pizza, plus other stuff.

Just found this. 23 Years Later: 23 Fun Facts About TMNT movie: http://www.mandatory.com/2013/03/01/23-years-later-23-fun-facts-about-the-teenage-mutant-ninja-tur/

Check this out, a bulk of it was filmed in Wilmington

7. Even though the film is supposed to take place in New York City, it actually only shot there for four days. The remainder (and bulk) of the film was shot in Wilmington, North Carolina. April O'Neil's news station was actually a real news station in Wilmington, and the sewers were just a giant set. Even the fight sequence in the streets and on the rooftops at the end of the film was shot on a giant New York City set that was repurposed from the cult favorite "Big Trouble in Little China."

8. We all know the Raphael line "Cricket? Nobody understands cricket. You gotta know what a crumpet is to understand cricket." It is said during his big fight with Casey Jones in Central Park. However, the irony of that line is that, because they were filming in rural Wilmington, North Carolina, there actually were crickets everywhere chirping very loudly. If you listen closely, you can still hear loud cricket noise in the background, even though they were edited out as best as they could be (around the 50-second mark).

16. The actors inside the suits all lost at least 20 pounds by the end of production due to the immense North Carolina heat and humidity. The fact that the suits were already very heavy and 60 pounds of animatronics were stored in the shell probably didn't help matters. In the scene where April's apartment catches ablaze, it got so hot for the actors inside the suits that they could only do one or two takes before having to move on. That's a lot of pressure, but they pulled it off.

I had actually thought about the weight of the suits. They had to be incredibly talented to do all those moves with all that weight on them and barely being able to see and the heat.

Other questions I had were answered too. As far as the voices and actors and the wear on the suits...

14. Speaking of Domino's, Michelan Sisti, who wore the Michelangelo suit for the film, also played the Domino's delivery man. Likewise, Josh Pais, David Forman and Leif Tilden, who wore the Raphael, Leonardo and Donatello suits respectively, also had minor roles in the film other than that of the turtles.

15. Every turtle besides Raphael had an actor wearing the suit, and a separate actor doing the voice (Josh Pais handled both for Raphael). Even the characters of Shredder and Tatsu had their voices dubbed over. Donatello's voice actor, Corey Feldman, was the most notable at the time.

21. There was so much wear and tear to all of the turtle costumes that they were constantly being touched up. Whole new replacement limbs were kept on hand, as they had to be switched out quite often.

I have all three on DVD, all these years later the costumes still hold up pretty well. Michael Bay is producing a new TMNT movie that's coming out this Aug with Megan Fox playing April O neal...so I don't have high hopes for it.

Yup when i heard michael bay was tied to the project i have a bad feeling that the human characters like april will get more screen time, kinda like how in the transformers movies its about sam not the robots. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully i'm wrong.
