Im not sure why no one is talking about McDermott more. Behind Luke, TD, the Kraken et al's performance was the mad scientist, orchestrating a symphony of destruction. He deserves a good bit of credit for slapping Brees around.

Chico gave him a shout, but I havnt seen any articles running with it.

I've seen some articles and heard some commentators mentioning/crediting McDermott... I think the problem is the perception (true or not) that Rivera is calling the shots on defense and McDermott is just following the game plan devised by Rivera.

Either way he deserves more credit in my book, the defensive play calling has been excellent and he's the guy in the booth.

Just think how much better this defense would be with some decent DBs....

We really just need one more corner... White hasn't been bad but at best he's been "OK" at least in my view. There's a reason why opponents attack his side of the field. With our front 7, if we can find ourselves a Richard Sherman we would be totally lights out.

On one of his WFNZ appearances, Smitty said White's problem was that he hit the rookie wall pretty hard. He still believes he'll be a good player, though. Said he's a hard worker and is very coachable.

They also asked him what the deal was with Josh Norman. Smitty didn't sound quite so confident about his future (hinted that his work ethic needed improvement).

because some people are convinced that Ron is the only coach responsible for the defense

Every coordinator that works under a head coach known for being involved in one side of the ball has that issue.

Take the Saints as an example. Do you believe their OC can function away from Payton well enough that you'd hire him as a head coach?

Probably because all the snarky posters thought it was so cool to call him McDerp, now they just keep quiet. McDermott was thrown under the bus in Philly to save Andy... They lost a good DC.... Our gain... I think the mix of him and Rivera is lightning in a bottle.
