First Take 12/23/13 Carolina vs New Orleans

Don't disagree with anything said in that video. I said exactly what both guys talked about.

1. If your going to gamble, you put brees out there.

2. In the NFL these days, a minute is too much time to give someone to drive the length of the field. Pass the ball. Payton played to win that game for 59 minutes. He played not to lose for the final minute and it burnt him. You play to win.

No no, I agree that their defense had been shutting Cam and the offense down all game. However, the head coach has to "Play To Win The Game".. All the Saints needed was 1 first down and it was all over. He has arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the league behind center and completely took the ball out of his hands to run the ball 3 straight times.

Sean Payton was taking chances all game long... The onside kick and the fake FG formation with McCown.. If Sean Payton allows Drew Brees to pass on 3rd down during that drive and Brees didn't see anything, all he has to do is concede a sack and the clock continues to run and they punt it away anyways... but they chose to run it straight into our front 7-8... I am glad they did, but nevertheless it is a decision that may haunt Sean Payton the rest of this season.

I see that side of the coin too.

After all, it was something just like this that is attributed to the "RiverBoat Rivera" nickname ever being created. Fans have since dumbed it down to RiverBoat Ron for short... But you get the deal.

We're known to run it 3 times as well. Lucky for us it worked out

The fact of the matter is that sean payton didn't believe that Cam would deliver with 55 seconds left on the clock. What cam did in that final drive was elite qb top 5 worthy play. He honestly thought cam would get stymied again by his defense. Cam proved that motherfugger wrong though.

Running three times was their best bet.   No one was expecting Cam to go all Neo from the Matrix on their asses, and march us down the field on that final drive..  with under a minute to go.   Nothing leading upto that drive, led anyone to believe that was going to happen.    We all hoped for a miracle,  but I don't think many of us were confident in it.

He was counting on giving the ball back to Carolina,  their defense stifling us again........and then just getting an easy end to the game with them winning.                    The call to run it x3,  was good.

If anything,  they have Rob Ryan to blame,  for being doofy looking.

I have to agree with pretty much everything they said to be honest... After we punted the ball away and gave the Saints the ball with less than 2 minutes to go, I never expected Sean Payton to run the ball into the heart of our defense 3 straight times and give our offense one last chance to tie the game up or WIN IT!!!

Sean Payton was comfortable in thinking that Cam Newton was not going to produce a last minute, game winning drive.

Sean Payton was fugging WRONG.  ;)

Maybe this is the answer! LoL

Just as true

He tested Cam's gangster... And learnt first hand that Cam keeps his pimp hand Strong

(That's Ebonics for those that are self proclaimed grammar Nazis)

Based on how the game had gone to that point, with a NO running game that was working, and a punchless Panther offense, I think Payton's decisions at the end were pretty sound. My jaw still drops when I think about that last drive. Saints fans must be having nightmares about it.

I'm just glad to be on the winning end of a game like this. We're usually the ones leaving enough time on the clock for one more score from the other team. We're not hearing the 'can't win the close games' chant these days.
