Ron Rivera's Status

I'd say definitely re-sign Rivera, but not enough where he thinks he's safe in his job, and can go back to being stoic, no-testicle Ron. Maybe 3 years/12.x million, giving him slightly over 4m a year.

BUT, I would fire the poo out of Shula the day the season ended.

I think he definitely deserves an extension. Maybe another two or three years on top of what he already has left. Unfortunately I think it is inevitable that Shula is here next year no matter what. The way the offense has played suits RR especially with their ability to keep drives going, in turn keeping the other teams offense off the field and our defense fresh. It's frustrating as hell sometimes but I don't think we are as bad on offense as it seems.

I see that this has been interpreted as some weird I don't like Rivera soapbox. My thread, this thread, is about his inevitable contract extension and a call to those who said playoffs or bust to come back and tell what they are now willing to give the man who has given us the playoffs.

I just believe that this subject will be more interesting after the post season...

He's making about 2.8 million a year right now... I'd go 3 years, 10.5 million or so. This gives him a solid raise and 2 more years to prove himself, and if the Panthers consistently perform then it's also a short window to negotiate a bigger-money, longer-term extension.

Exactly, that is about the way I look at Ron Rivera's contract situation.
