Ron Rivera's Status

The fact that any of these dumb thread still exist must mean he just might be too Hispanic for some...no matter the record.

Bill Cohwer is the perfect blend of hispanic for those posters: 0%

On pace for 12-4 with the best defensive and two of the best offensive seasons ever in the history of the Panthers under his watch..

"Is it still good enough?" <====with all due respect.. STFU..

See with Rivera we became competetive from day one. We simply had a lack of talent on two of the three phases of this team. Under Rivera in the first two season we lost games bc the defense was unable to ever get turnovers or off the field.

Special Teams and defense are loaded now..the secondary is the only unit needing any kind of talent immersion...but not an emergency type of need.

In the Saints game the defense and special teams carried this team when under Chud it was the offense carrying the team to mask the poor defensive unit and special teams.

One more season of addressing OL and WR CBs and complete...

Coach of the Year if we win the division....and he will be the best, most likable coach we have ever had.

I can't wait to see the threads that are going to be made after the playoffs..

I see that this has been interpreted as some weird I don't like Rivera soapbox. My thread, this thread, is about his inevitable contract extension and a call to those who said playoffs or bust to come back and tell what they are now willing to give the man who has given us the playoffs.

Why is it so awful?

He will get extended - but us in the real world are all on lame duck deals!

It's a vote of no confidence in the coach.  Coaches obviously try to win every year, but they build systems and develop players for years to come.  When you tell them, and thus the team, that you are no longer sold on their direction by not giving them an extension, you give them a huge vote of no confidence, and that could have ripple effects.

There's no reason not to extend Ron this offseason... I doubt it's a question for Gman or JR, it's more a question of how much he'll make - and the playoffs will determine that.
