Dorsey's dropping the ball as QB Coach.

I don't like the phrase either dude, but that's exactly what they have turned him into. Yes he has a running game behind him, but I can count of two hands the times that they have used play action to go vertical.

The only way I can make any sense of it is that they don't want him to make mistakes, and want him to become more proficient at reading defenses. No doubt, we are more balanced this year with the running game, but be honest... They are not letting him go out there and operate like he wants to. I think he's playing along because it's working... In the end the W is worth it... And I'm not complaining at all. I'd just rather him to be known for Brees/Manning/Brady performances. I do believe those days are coming as I previously stated. If anyone is a Panthers fan and is unhappy these days something is wrong. I'm just giving my .02 as far as the QB coach and our scheme is this year. And at 11-4, it's working and will probably have us hoisting the Lombardi...

Can's not a "Game Manager", because the Panthers still need Cam to win games. They can't win with out him. The running game, his receivers, and offensive line are all very inconsistent, and can't be counted on regularly.

The reason why they don't go "vertical" , as much in the past, is well known: The offensive line can't hold their blocks long enough for long developing plays (and the OC can't create any off movement, to compensate for the poor blocking).

Steve Smith is also not the deep threat he once was. And Ted Ginn (as fast as he is), can't catch the deep ball over his shoulder. He's better on crossing patterns. And the Panthers, have usually had leads in their games as well.

I don't like it either. But the team is 11-5, so what can I say? At least, we still get to see Cam make plays for them to win.

Cam's motion isn't the problem. It's his discipline. When the poo hits the fan he drop the mechanics and does what is natural to him. I've seen him make some incredible throws with good posture when things are going well.

Like every QB in the league does.

His accuracy on short and intermediate passes has improved, but he has definitely had a poor year throwing downfield. If he gets that back to where he was his first two years, he'll be lethal.

I worry that the big Superbowl ring he'll have on his hand after the season will negatively impact his throwing mechanics though. :D

It might be because that's where he's been focusing more, on short throws.

We also dont have a deep threat WR that can just catch any ball thrown up in the air

People act like Brees doesn't have two 6'5 receivers he's throwing the ball to. Like he has some special talent that Cam doesn't. What a joke! I know people ignore the skill players on the field a lot and just lump all the credit to the QB but let's not get cute here. The same way you can say brees and payton throw for 5000 yards you can as well say their receivers catch for 5000 yards. So the receivers have a lot to do with the QBs' talent. Especially immobile QBs. Let's not get it twisted. Right now the panthers probably have the worst WR corps in the league. So the OP can shove this thread up where the sun doesn't shine and respect this 11-4 team.

That's one thing I appreciate about the media, they only care about wins and don't care about specifics about a couple of in-completions in a 2 hr game. The media have bigger fish to fry.

I will say it again, every QB have many in-complete passes every weekend and they're all can be used against them based on the narrative.

What the fug? Lack of downfield throws have more to do with us having 6 offensive linemen on IR and one legitimate down field threat in Greg Olsen. Yeah Ginn keeps safetys honest but he isn't going to catch a ball over a safety and CB like a megatron.

I didn't say lack of throws. I said his accuracy has decreased and it has.

He has the worst completion % on passes over 20 yards this year I believe. It was significantly better his first two seasons.

I don't really care since we're winning and I'm not saying he sucks because of it, I was just pointing it out. His passes on long routes have consistently been off target, many so bad that I'm not even sure someone like Megatron could have caught them.

I'll take a higher completion % on short and intermediate throws all day though because that is where the majority of the throws are made.
