Dorsey's dropping the ball as QB Coach.

Cam continues to improve, as young players will.  Not sure what the big problem is.  He was playing hurt and in the rain yesterday, and though there were times I wished his throws had been completed, that's not all on him, and he certainly made it count when it came down to it

Look, you're not going to turn Newton into a Brady / Brees / Manning type passer. That's just not who he is.

Your best prototype here is Brett Favre, and from what I've seen, that's the model they're following.

Favre has a ring, and so do others like him. Newton could get there too.

I don't agree with the Favre comparison. Cam can be as accurate as the best of them, his problem has been consistency.

As Cam gets further into his career, and age, he isn't always going to be able to rely on his legs all the time. I see no reason why he can't polish his passing as time goes on, and reach close to that level of a Brady, Manning, or Brees. It didn't come overnight for those guys either.

As long as he keeps putting the work in, and we have him surrounded with the right coaches, the sky is the limit.

I think with the right coaching and 1000s of off season reps especially with footwork

Cam will be better than all of them at the end of the day

Cam accuracy is because of his footwork. Sometimes and usually when you see cam through a INT its because he either throws off his back foot or doesnt step into his throw. Throwing the ball has alot to do with squaring up with where your receiver will be stepping into your throw and arm strength to determine how much touch to put on the pass. Sometimes pressure determines the outcome of the throw. So saying that its really not him. I think the offensive line has to give him a extra second to deliver the ball accurately and let him step into his movement. Then also if no one is open because we do run a very simple 3 receiver route offense, he forces it with the pocket collapsing so there is no chance really to get a accurate pass off.

Cam has a career best completion %, QB rating, and high of TD passes.

This is his best season as a passer. So if Newton is getting better......than Dorsey should be credited not bashed.

Cam's improved but this is by far the best the WR core has been in his career.

I think that the coaching staff as a whole turned him into a game manager this year by design. I think that they stress being smart and making the smart decision which causes him to think a little bit more. (Let's face it, he's no Peyton manning mentally)They are intentionally not going vertical despite how good he was doing this his first two seasons. I'm honestly a little confused by this.

On the one hand, I get it... I see that we have a stout defense and we should play offensively not to turn the ball over and lose games. At the same time it confuses me because we do have a stout defense. It seems that we should be more apt to take the home run chances...

I don't know what to make of him or if there's even a correlation between Dorsey and Cam's play this year. At face value, I'll tell you my personal opinion. I was a huge Dorsey fan when he was QB of the Miami Hurricanes back in the day... But even then he wasn't all that great, he had A plethora of running backs that made him look better than he was as a player. I haven't followed his coaching career at all and don't really care.

I will say that I dont think he has any business coaching potentially one of the best QBs ever. I think this was an experiment... And wasn't expected to really work but it has. As far as Cam growing in the position... Who knows, but it's obvious he's handcuffed and is supposed to manage the game instead of taking them over.

Yes we are winning, and no individual stats aren't more important than wins and team stats. What I'm saying is that he clearly isn't playing to his potential and we've seen what his potential is... I want him to be able to throw for 400 and win and still be able to run... One day soon perhaps?

Except if you're Drew Brees.

Also, what it seems like with some of you is, you want Cam to be all things instead of who he is. You compare him to vets QBs  who were not even on his level in their third season as players. You want him to be a perfect QB playing with inconsistant bunch of receivers, runningbacks and an O-line that can't hold back a bunch of charging grandmothers.

Truth be told, pick apart Cam is not going to fix the Offense. I guess you will place the heat on him until the team fixes its problems then you will act like there was never a problem in the first place, just like you are with your Defense.

I don't like the phrase game manager for Cam.

I do think they want him to run a ball control O which takes emphasis away from chunk plays.....but the O is too largely on his back IMO for the game manager word. Newton is given the rush attack to be a game manager. He is still heavily our O

I don't like the phrase either dude, but that's exactly what they have turned him into. Yes he has a running game behind him, but I can count of two hands the times that they have used play action to go vertical.

The only way I can make any sense of it is that they don't want him to make mistakes, and want him to become more proficient at reading defenses. No doubt, we are more balanced this year with the running game, but be honest... They are not letting him go out there and operate like he wants to. I think he's playing along because it's working... In the end the W is worth it... And I'm not complaining at all. I'd just rather him to be known for Brees/Manning/Brady performances. I do believe those days are coming as I previously stated. If anyone is a Panthers fan and is unhappy these days something is wrong. I'm just giving my .02 as far as the QB coach and our scheme is this year. And at 11-4, it's working and will probably have us hoisting the Lombardi...

His accuracy on short and intermediate passes has improved, but he has definitely had a poor year throwing downfield. If he gets that back to where he was his first two years, he'll be lethal.

I worry that the big Superbowl ring he'll have on his hand after the season will negatively impact his throwing mechanics though. :D

It's hard to look good throwing the ball downfield when you have no receivers that can get open.
