Dorsey's dropping the ball as QB Coach.

Look, you're not going to turn Newton into a Brady / Brees / Manning type passer. That's just not who he is.

Your best prototype here is Brett Favre, and from what I've seen, that's the model they're following.

Favre has a ring, and so do others like him. Newton could get there too.

I agree with that! Thats a fair comparsion and Favre was pretty good at it. High risk, high reward type player

Cam has improved quite a bit this year. The only dropoff is his long ball, but I suspect that's from the play calls and our WRs.

Smith losing a step, and playing in the slot more has a lot to do with it.

You know what we need?

A good uni thread.

No team or player is perfect, nitpicking over the little things is kind of petty. I know mechanics is not a little thing, but come on mayne. Consider where this team has been over the last 5-6 years.

lol....hey everyone look at this guy! No one gives a poo about new unis, bro.

Anywho, I was thinking what better way to spark our team if we get a homefield game than a Panther logo a midfield!!! Imagine that. We could also paint the entire field black. It would be even cooler than that Boise St blue turf. So whose with me on starting the online petition?

This tread is suppose to be about a QB coach.  I suspected it was nothing more than another we need to make Cam perfect so our team of rag tag receivers won't look so bad. Still waiting for endless threads on how much the receivers need to step up and be more consistant with Cam but we all know those threads will never exist. Not when it's easier to pick apart our QB.

I have never seen folks spend so much time trying to fix the least of their team issues. But I guess when it's the easiest thing to do, then why not.

I swear some of you folks are bored with yourselves and just need attention

Cam's mechanics when not pressured have been pretty consistently good until just recently. I suspect his toe/ankle are still tender and he can't push off on throws the way he would like to.

As to Dorsey, it looks to me like he's doing a great job and has excellent rapport with Cam.

Aside: A few fans seem to have trouble handling success. I see almost as many negative threads after wins as after losses. What's up with that?

I'm overjoyed. No discussion to be gained over more "WHO ELSE IS EXCITED?" threads though.

But to your question, too many debbie downers afraid of disappointment who think they're just being realistic. I don't know any fans outside of the Huddle who aren't almost constantly skeptical or harsh towards the team. Hard fanbase to please.

Not to wash Cam's hands completely clean, and maybe I'm ignorant on the job description, but isn't throwing mechanics training basic QB coaching?

I know Dorsey's new to the gig, but imagine you're him. You have a talented quarterback and the one major flaw in his game is he overthrows receivers or keeps the ball too high often. He actually play his best when he's forced to call plays himself at the end of the game and is short on time. What exactly are you doing as QB coach if Throwing Motion 101 stuff continues to be a chronic issue for your quarterback?

I think that the coaching staff as a whole turned him into a game manager this year by design. I think that they stress being smart and making the smart decision which causes him to think a little bit more. (Let's face it, he's no Peyton manning mentally)They are intentionally not going vertical despite how good he was doing this his first two seasons. I'm honestly a little confused by this.

On the one hand, I get it... I see that we have a stout defense and we should play offensively not to turn the ball over and lose games. At the same time it confuses me because we do have a stout defense. It seems that we should be more apt to take the home run chances...

I don't know what to make of him or if there's even a correlation between Dorsey and Cam's play this year. At face value, I'll tell you my personal opinion. I was a huge Dorsey fan when he was QB of the Miami Hurricanes back in the day... But even then he wasn't all that great, he had A plethora of running backs that made him look better than he was as a player. I haven't followed his coaching career at all and don't really care.

I will say that I dont think he has any business coaching potentially one of the best QBs ever. I think this was an experiment... And wasn't expected to really work but it has. As far as Cam growing in the position... Who knows, but it's obvious he's handcuffed and is supposed to manage the game instead of taking them over.

Yes we are winning, and no individual stats aren't more important than wins and team stats. What I'm saying is that he clearly isn't playing to his potential and we've seen what his potential is... I want him to be able to throw for 400 and win and still be able to run... One day soon perhaps?

Those who sit and pick-apart Cam clearly never looked at the media chosen QBs, like Peyton, and their third seasons in the NFL. Many seem to live in their own fantasy worlds in their heads where every issue is as simple as fixing the QB.

I don't like the phrase game manager for Cam.

I do think they want him to run a ball control O which takes emphasis away from chunk plays.....but the O is too largely on his back IMO for the game manager word. Newton is given the rush attack to be a game manager. He is still heavily our O

the offense is meant to keep the defense off the field as long as possible, keep them fresh and limit the oppositions possessions.  it's worked so far this season, yesterday our defense played as good as any for how often they were put on the field and for how many three-and-outs we had.
