NCfan's mock (updated)

Things to think about

Our front seven is ferocious and the reason that we have made out okay with a bunch of rookies and second year guys in the secondary.  IF you resign Hardy and basically keep those seven intact, then I see no reason to spend a 1st or second day pick on a CB.  Our young guys are only going to get better.

Second, if we resign Hardy, there will not be a lot of cash to throw around on FA's.  Nicks, I don't want, neither do I want an old, now hurt, Tillman. I think Hixon can start here next season alongside Smith and get a good guy or two in the draft to bring along.

Would go

1st  OT  A good guy could fall like Lewan or Cedric

2nd WR Benjamin is raw and might make it here

3rd WR  Figure another good one, maybe Coleman

This is where I would go, we have Amani coming back as a G, along with Kugzilla, so I would not spend a high pick on G

4th-7th is on backups in the mold of Klein who was a great pick and might make Blackburn expendable at seasons end.

If we plug a Lewan in at RT next season, he can learn the speed of the game for a year and then go to LT when Gross retires.

Benjamin is raw but athletic.  Doubt he starts right away, but can learn the pro game and eventually be our Megatron

Do not think that a lack of playmakers is our only issue.  If we don't sure up the OLine, our QB will be running for his life and never hit any playmaker

Guard has been the most inconsistent due to injury & and one of weakest position in the OL. We need to turn it into strength like we did for the DT.  I expect us to double dip and get either OT/OG or OG/OT in the early round. Also due to our lower pick we are in position to pick up a top rated guard that meets BPA  & fills need. This would give us a Top 5 OL for the run game and probably best interior line.

1st round -RG  Gabe Jackson - 6'3" 335 lbs

2nd round  WR  - Benjamin Franklin

3rd round- RT- Corey Robinson

Starters  LT - Gross / LG - Amini / C- Kalil / RG - Jackson / RT - Robinson

Backup LT -Williams   / LG - Chandler / C - Beyers / RG - Kugbila / RT - Bell

1st round - RG 6'3" 334lbs Gabe Jackson (what we need in the OL is consistency and injuries have ruined it every year.) Top rated guard that can run block and pass protect.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=cA-nDbk3k3c

2nd round - WR- 6'5" 230lbs Kelvin Benjamin

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uk2T3FAEkCk

3rd round- RT 6'7" 347lbs Corey Robinson

4th round- TE

5th round- CB

I like it.

But, probably more like this:

(1) Kelvin Benjamin

(2) Xavier Su'a-Filo / Gabe Jackson

(3) Corey Robinson / Seantrel Henderson / Morgan Moses

Amini will be back. Not sure about Wharton. Nothing to speak for Kug. If we could get our hands on Xavier or Gabe itd be awesome. It would help our run game tremendously. We saw how great a Larry Warford did for Detroit this year.

And im seeing a lot of mocks with Corey Robinson but any words if hes coming out yet?

using our 1st round pick on a guard wouldnt be to smart for a few reasons. Gettlemen didnt spend an early 4th pick on a Kug who had an undraftable draft grade, Gettle sees something big in him literally probably lol. Amini will also be back and we could possible keep wharton while continuing to train chandler.

Gross at most will play 2 more years. getting a OT know makes sense because we could get him ready to eventually take Gross spot or just leave them at RT(upgrade over Bell) and draft another the following year. We already almost have to take to OT in the next 2years due to need and retirement. your method of guard would make it 3years

a Impact WR and OT must be taking in the first 2 rounds for this year to maximixe both or there potential together. An OT who increases run blocking/pass protection over Bell and a WR who gets seperation/strong hands will take this offense to the level it needs to be.

FA:

Hardy- No brainer need to lock this guy up.

Charles Tillman- Rivera connection and strong front 7 with needs in the Secondary, should be able to get at a decent price

Ginn- best returner since Smitty was back there.

Draft:

wishfully thinking,  deep draft at some spots and WR being so deep.  Pull a NE and Trade out of the 1st round (ideally a 2nd and 3rd)

2nd:  (1st)Moncrief- Big Physical WR who lucky for us class is so deep, (2nd) Jordan Matthews- just big enough, not a Burner, just a solid well rounded WR like his Cousin.

3rd: (1st) James Hurst- was a potential 1st round LT but broken leg will cause him to drop.  Luckily Gross Should come back for at least 1 more year.  This will give Hurst a Whole min to recover and get back into full gear and work in slow back to form.  When Gross retires in 2-3 years Hurst will be able to come right in.  (2nd)  Morgan Moses- Big RT who should come right in and start on that right side.  Whoever we have at RB is going to be very happy, him and Kugzilla on that right side should open some very nice holes.

4th:  Antone Exum- Hybrid Safety/Corner.  Good size and solid athletic ability.  Started off good at VT but has been plagued by injuries the last 2 years.  Should come in and compete for safety position.

5th: Stanley Jean-Baptiste  - Big physical Corner who should be nice to play under Tillman and could end up being a Soild starter for us in a year or 2.

7th: BPA at OL or DL- stack up depth in the trenches

Leaves RB as top priority in 2015 possibly grabbing one of top 2-3 RB in 2015 the way they have been dropping the last few years, to come into a good supporting cast.  Makes the Stewie/Dwill duo easily go away allowing big beef of cap money to open up for Hardy, Cam, and make it easier to lock up Luke after his rook contract end.  After the 1st round just start building depth at other positions.

I would love to trade out of the first and add another 2nd rounder + 3rd or 4th (most likely).

The only teams that could be a trade partner are: Cleveland, Minnesota, and SF.

The Browns has a lot of picks (two 1st, one 2nd, and two 3rd). Minnesota with one 1st, one 2nd, and two 3rds. And, SF with one 1st, two 2nds, and one 3rd. So, the most realistic partner would be Cleveland bc they have a high 2nd round pick compared to SF who has two very late 2nd.

Say if we was able to trade with Cleveland, your mock could really happen.

Round 2

(35 via Cleveland) Jordan Matthews

(our pick) Donte Moncrief

Round 3

James Hurst

The only thing I dont like about the mock, is EXUM. I was a huge fan of his but I think he's going to be a safety in the NFL. He's built like one (HUGE) and is damn good in coverage. My problem is the guy will not "tackle" anyone. He's afraid to put up a hit and really lack effort. I'd go with Jaylen Watkins (if there), Rashaad Reynolds, or Bene Benwikere before Exum.
