Cam's Humility

Sometimes you gotta really wonder if some Huddler's actually watch the games or pressers?

Cause, if you criticized them for other reasons, they would get highly offended.

As you said; Cam has always been humble. It's amazing, that [presumably] his "Athlete and Entertainer" comments 3 years ago, and the fact that he does the Superman and first down celebration on the field, makes people believe he's non-complimentary and self absorbed during pressers. What does any of that have to do what ever came out of Cam's mouth regarding his coaches and teammates as a Panther?

It's not being a homer. It's just the facts. SMH/Incredible!!!!!!!

You mean the comment Peter King took out of context to help feed the media's "Cam needs to practice some humility and we in the will teach him" attitude? Maybe some of those folks need to practice some of that humilty themselves. If they did practice some of that humility, they wouldn't be so damn uptight over every ish this kid does. Arrogant bunch of MoFos.

I have to say this, I wasn't following football seriously to remember how the media treated Warren Moon during his days as a QB but something tells me it wasn't much different than how Cam is being treated. SMH..Amazing now little times have changed maybe that because they have yet to practice any level of humilty.

Not sure you followed the thread.

The subject, was about Cam's humility, and praising teammates during pressers.

Cam HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY. NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN THAT REGARD (sorry for the Caps)!

Yes, Cam has improved in some/other areas. But it's more in his leadership, and handling adversity on the field. However, that has nothing to do with Cam ALWAYS being complimentary and deflecting praise during his pressers. 'Them is just da facts'.

PS: Cam accepts blame for everything; even if it's undeserved. So that's not always the best thing/example to bring up. You know that.

I understand your points.

And, I agree with you that most of the media are douches and are waiting for anything bad with Cam to write about.

Most of us who talk about him continuint to mature do so as a huge compliment.  The guys is developing into a premier player and QB right before our eyes.  It in no way is an insult.

Yea Cam clearly wasn't happy with the way he played. He always downplays his performance to give credit to others.

That is because he's a perfectionist. If anyone is a perfectionist like him, you can see that this kid will always be extremely hard on himself.

The belief by many that him showing some humility means it's okay to make the team's weaknesses his fault, is ridiculous. But it seems that is what is happening. This Offensive side of the Panthers has yet to fix their problem all season but folks don't seem to care. All they seem concerned with is Cam playing perfect and taking full responsibility when the offense sucks.

Some are even still trying to help their argument of Cam's "new maturity" by still claiming what a bad season he had last year. In the meantime, the only difference between this season Cam and last season Cam were a couple more fumbles and the Panthers winning ratio.

I guess it is a bit hard to eat humble pie when you realize that your team isn't as good as you want to believe. Cam is pretty much playing the as good as he did last season. The difference is, the DEFENSE has indeed finally stepped up their game; something the team was missing for the past two seasons.

It's all good. :thumbsu:

Cam is certainly not perfect. No Sir-ee. So, I have no problem discussing his play on the field, growth or maturity (especially if it's legitimate, and not just inane, stale, rote media nonsense), and what he needs to improve on. Of course not.

However, Panther fans can't fall into the lazy national media trap (unless we just don't like him, or trying rouse the fan base), of assuming Cam was bad at certain things, just cause the team is winning now, or we finally decided to pay proper attention (or noticed) said things they now feel he's doing or not doing.

Cause one thing Cam's always been from day one: Complimentary of his teammates and coaches; tough on himself, and deflected praise (no matter what the perception is; Superman, First Down Celebration be damned)! Lol.

That's all I was trying to say, initially.

Now you're changing the criteria.

His purported demeanor after tough losses, has nothing to do with how he ever complimented his teammates or deflected praise during his pressers. You're mistaken.

I was talking about humility, not throwing teammates under the bus, and being complimentary during his pressers, as the OP.

Cam has always been this way. And I'm not the only one that holds this opinion. I actually watched his pressers his first two seasons, as opposed to clips, or what the media wanted you to hear. This is well known; not just by me. I'm surprised a Panther fan on the Huddle would say this so emphatically (but then again, I guess I shouldn't be so surprised).

So a guy that says he wants to be an icon and entertainer while doing superman poses is all of a sudden humble? Hey, I am a big Cam supporter but I don't see how people can say Cam hasn't changed. You do understand that humble means to "lower ones self in relation to others." Again, I'm a Cam supporter, but I believe a light bulb came on for him and he changed this year, Cam admitted this himself.
