Cam's Humility

Just got finished watching Cam's press conference.

He truly is a class act.  He knows he didn't play well and it is visibly clear he was disappointed but he never wavered on the giving praise to HIS defense for carrying the day.  Holding the offense up just enough to give us a chance and we did.

I loved how he was steadfast on giving the D the credit for this amazing win.

The beauty is: He's always been this way. It's just that the National Media chose to focus on "suggestion boxes", deflecting from his classy statements/sharing the wealth from year one.

He hasn't always been this way. This tear us a 180 degree turn.

Not true.

Cam was always complimentary, and NEVER cast blame on his sucky ass teammates (or Rivera coaching; you could argue were bringing him down), his first two seasons. And even when he won or had a great game, he always bigged up his teammates by name. Always!

I don't know what press conferences you were watching. Yes, Cam has improved in certain areas this year. However, (contrary to what the National Media, and some Panther fans want you to believe), Cam has always been gracious during his press conferences.

Okay, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think you are in the small minority if you don't think Cam has changed 180 degrees. His interviews the past two years after losses were embarrassing and difficult to watch from a fans perspective.

Now you're changing the criteria.

His purported demeanor after tough losses, has nothing to do with how he ever complimented his teammates or deflected praise during his pressers. You're mistaken.

I was talking about humility, not throwing teammates under the bus, and being complimentary during his pressers, as the OP.

Cam has always been this way. And I'm not the only one that holds this opinion. I actually watched his pressers his first two seasons, as opposed to clips, or what the media wanted you to hear. This is well known; not just by me. I'm surprised a Panther fan on the Huddle would say this so emphatically (but then again, I guess I shouldn't be so surprised).

Two statements that I know are true:

Without our defense, Cam's numbers would be better (we could not afford to play conservatively) but fewer people would be talking about him.

Cam Newton showed all the signs of a legitimate elite NFL QB on 4 occasions:  The Smitty Pass, the Ginn Pass, the Hixon Pass, the Press conference.

I have been a huge critic of Cam's until the win streak because I am not blinded by homerism and I do not celebrate leaders of teams that only win consolation games.  He was not a leader and he was not helping the team with his attitude.  Sorry--that is the truth.  Today, Cam had a bad game.  But the stuff he showed me in the last 55 seconds shows me that the light is on and he is going to be great.  He was outstanding when he/we needed it most.

The Ginn Pass:  Cam stays in the pocket is hit in the face but his eyes never waiver.  he steps into the throw and releases it before Ginn has cleared the 2 defenders.   He leads Ginn perfectly, allowing him to get out of bounds. Had he been sacked or had the ball been behind Ginn, the outcome of the game could have been very different.  A sack would have cost us the game.

The Hixon pass:  Cam's pocket presence and his timing and location of the throw have never been better.  That pass was one of the best qb plays I have seen in some time.  I thought the blitz was going to nail him, but he stepped up--one step--without ever taking his eye off the matchup he wanted.  Beautiful.

So Cam is humble in your eyes because he's taking all of the blame for how badly the offense play week in and out. I guess that pretty much sums up the humility of some of you.

FYI, Cam has ALWAYS been a humble guy. His parents raised him well. Something many of you can't seem to recognized. i guess maybe it's because you seem to define humility in quite an interesting way. Hmmmmm

Sometimes you gotta really wonder if some Huddler's actually watch the games or pressers?

Cause, if you criticized them for other reasons, they would get highly offended.

As you said; Cam has always been humble. It's amazing, that [presumably] his "Athlete and Entertainer" comments 3 years ago, and the fact that he does the Superman and first down celebration on the field, makes people believe he's non-complimentary and self absorbed during pressers. What does any of that have to do what ever came out of Cam's mouth regarding his coaches and teammates as a Panther?

It's not being a homer. It's just the facts. SMH/Incredible!!!!!!!

Comments like the suggestion box comment was extremely immature and dumb.  But, that is OK.  Why?  Because he was a very young player.

He has shown incredible improvement in all aspects of his game....both on and off the field.

Even Cam himself has said so.  But I guess some of you know better than everyone else.....including Cam.

Not sure you followed the thread.

The subject/post, was about Cam's humility, and praising teammates during pressers.

Cam HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY. NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN THAT REGARD (sorry for the Caps)!

Yes, Cam has improved in some/other areas. But it's more in his leadership, and handling adversity on the field. However, that has nothing to do with Cam ALWAYS being complimentary and deflecting praise during his pressers. 'Them is just da facts'.

PS: Cam accepts blame for everything; even if it's undeserved. So that's not always the best thing/example to bring up. You know that.
