Last play of the game epitomizes why this team is so dangerous

Mike Mitchell was in the perfect position to have made that pick on the final play of the game but instead was smart and disciplined, knocking it down in a textbook display of situational awareness.  Only 3 penalties in very sloppy weather conditions against a bitter rival, one of which was a fluky special teams formation mistake.  An offense getting points when the other phases made plays and put them in favorable position.  Disciplined defense against an offense known to confuse, all while spending 40 minutes on the field.

What a transformation from even 14 weeks ago.  Carolina is no longer beating themselves, showing again today that they can duke it out ugly when the chips are down and the stakes are at their highest.  SF, NE, Miami, the Jets, and now the Saints... the evidence speaks for itself.  Lot of work still to be done and *definitely* areas to continue to improve, but if they maintain their focus and work as they have this team is poised to achieve greatness.

The defense is the sledgehammer great equalizer... we had no business winning that game today or being in it playing an elite offense.... our offense was BAD for 59 minutes. The defense gifted them the first score and stepped on New Orleans throats the rest of the game sans one drive that we were tired.

Our defense brings us able to hang with anyone. Would rather have a good d like this than a dominant offense bc this d can play in any weather or stadium

You nailed it. And we all know who it is that wins games and who it is that wins Champinships. I am still pumped by that D effort today.

Our defense is why this team is dangerous. The offense is still anemic...especially if Smitty will be out for a while (potentially a 'retirement' injury). I stand by my comment that after Smitty left the game it was never so obvious that we need another...or two...WRs. LaFell and Ginn can't consistently get open...or catch the ball. It looked like Cam all but gave up on them & bean looking for Olsen that next to last drive. Hixon made the most of his opportunity, but if Smitty is gone we're in trouble.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
