He's an UDFA rookie. Of course he's the fudging weak link. Yet, I prefer him over a corner like Norman is because he's got prototypical size, great physicality and best of all of he's no moron. I think we fans have been spoiled with the success Cam, Luke, Star, Short and Klein have had recently. Give him some time to develop. DB is the hardest position to play in the NFL nowadays.

I think you make a great point. We have been fortunate to have rookies coming in and really make statement.  White obviously is listening and learning unlike Norman or he would be in the same doghouse.  It is painful and couldn't happen at a worse position but you only get better with game time experience.

Everybody talks about an offensive player stepping up and having a breakout game.   Let's hope White steps up and has a breakout game on the defensive side.

Come White show us you got what it takes.   I believe.

Both White and Lester have had their crappy moments this season but they've made nice contributions to our defense as rookies. At this endeavor, we can't honestly tell if they'll stick around and/or be starters down the road. After all, they're raw talents. Fans should be more understanding, especially of DBs these days. They're basically asked to be both a cornerback and linebacker to cover larger and more athletic WRs and TEs. Other than QB, it's hands down the most demanding skill position out there. On top of it all, the league has placed heavy restrictions against all defensive players. They're not allowed to even sneeze in a QB's, RB's, WR's, or TE's direction.

I find hilarious that a portion of our fanbase was ready to crown White so fast after a solid start to the season and anyone who thought he didn't deserve to start over Thomas full-time was viewed as a moron. Three weeks later, Melvin is the weak link to our defense and should be benched.

Yep, some prospective would be nice by the fans.

Fickle fans what do you expect.  I still believe that in years to come.  2013 Draft / offseason will be the key to our future success.  Other than Kugbila (who I believe was IR'd only because he wasn't ready) our offseason really struck gold.  Star/Short/Klein/Lester/White will be key contributors in our success in the future.   If you go back to the Steeler dynasty you see in a 2 or 3 season span they gained 5 or 6 future hall of famers.   Whether that becomes the case is way to soon to tell but I think Gettleman did an outstanding job in his first day as the leader of the offseason.

Back to the point.  White IMO is learning and probably takes getting burnt quite personally.  Obviously if he is starting Rivera and company know that he is improving and keeping him on the bench isn't what is best for this team.  Especially in the long run.
