LaFell Playing For His Next Contract

Lafell is gone. If you resign him and Ginn that doesnt really leave any room for anybody we may draft high. Somebody is gonna have to lose reps. Ginn has more value the Lafell, and its too much talent at receiver in the draft to give him a new contract in our offense. Easily replaced, not much to think about for Gettleman. But i could see a Captain Munnerlyn situation happening for him and coming back if he doesnt have a lot of interest, he would just have to beat out the competition next year. But the smart GM move would be to draft someone with a high ceiling and go from there, we have to get it right eventually.

I think we can still draft a solid #1 and keep LaFell and Ginn. Since we'll be drafting towards the bottom of the 1st round, I don't think we're gonna be paying a whole lot for a solid WR.

Lets compare number two WR shall we?

Wr1-

Rookie Year

25 Rec 407 Yards 1 TD

Second Year

27 Rec 317 Yards 0 TD

Third Year

68 Rec 948 Yards 6 TD

Fourth Year

96 Rec 1253 Yards 8 TD

Wr2

Rookie Year

38 Rec 468 Yards 1 TD

Second Year

36 Rec 613 Yards 3 TD

Third Year

44 Rec 677 Yards 4 TD

Fourth Year

48 Rec 614 Yards 5 TD

Now...the first WR was the number one receiver after his fourth year...different scheme all together and was basically our only target. I believe they are pretty similar production give Brandon his due....his numbers are similar to everyone's favorite Moose...

i think some of you guys are overvaluing lafell, he's a good wr point blank but he's not a guy who would be a good 1wr if smitty got hurt or retired, and that's the main point. If we draft a wr, there's going to be a log jam with him, lafell, ginn, and smith........limiting everyone except for smiths snaps. Good wideout but unless he shows that he can be consistent in getting separation, its going to be hard resigning him as a priority when guys like munnerlyn, mitchell, and cole balling out even ginn

lafell is a better receiver than ginn in every way cept speed.

Thanks for your opinion.

nobody is claiming he is a number one.

Thanks for your input.

Fiery, Happy Panther and others that have stated similar things are correct. LaFell has value in this league, and he is going to get 2 to 3 million a year easily.

I would like to keep him as long as it's a fair market value deal. He is still a valuable part of our offense, and you put him on the field with our new number 1 (draft), Smitty and Olsen, and we have decent weapons. Add in Ginn if we can keep him and we have 5 good targets for our passing game.  Beef up our o-line a bit and this offense would be good to go.

I can't make threads, but Marqise Lee looks damn good. He is a run after catch guy and is fiery. Reminds me of Smith a little. Good be available later in the first because of his size and injuries?

Im happy for Lee he's had one rocky season, but his size is fine. Is he the big body that we want for Cam? No
