Canada...You just went up a notch in my book!

...Don't get excited though; that just puts you at notch 1.

Canada Strikes Down Anti-Prostitution Laws

So technically, it's been legal the whole time in Canada, but certain activities were banned, kind of like Weed laws in Amsterdam. I think it's time we just go ahead and do likewise here. It's been around since the dawn of man; it ain't goin' away. You might as well make the practice safer for all parties involved.

Now the question will be, can they head off a tide of human trafficking that might be coming.

I'm in favour of decriminalising sex work, but there will now likely be problems with this.  The other problem associated with the exploitation of sex workers, of course, is pimping.  It's only different from human trafficking in that it's not about transporting humans for the purpose of sexual slavery, but the slavery part remains.

I just hope they can find a way to avoid this.  Europe's (particularly in the Netherlands', Belgium's, and Germany's) issues with trafficking are significant, and differentiating between those who work willingly versus by coercion (especially among those from Eastern Europe) is difficult.
