Saints Starting Rookie Terron Armstead At LT Sunday...

Put up or shut up time for Hardy. He wants to get paid? Dominate on Sunday. If he has a disappointing game in a game of this magnitude vs. a rookie, no way would I pay him mega millions.

I know you don't have the most popular opinion around here, but I 100% agree.  Time to live up to your name, Hardy.  I'm looking for at least 1.5 sacks and 4 QB hurries.  Star and Cole need to capitalize on Hardy's penetration, too, to make his pressure turn into good defensive plays for us.

tho i'm confident he will beat on the rookie...i agree. if you can't just destroy this rookie then you are really going to have a hard time making a case for getting a big contract.

it's kind of like all the weak teams that we blew out this year...that's what you're supposed to do when you're significantly better.

one thing i will mention, tho...i seriously doubt that armstead will be on an island alone with hardy. i fully expect them to get him some help with the blocking...of course they do this and they take one weapon off the field, which is a win for us in this matchup. if hardy plays strong enough to warrant an extra blocker on him the whole game, it won't matter if he doesn't have big stats at the end because he will have done his job in making it easier for everyone else to do their's.

Hopefully McDermott moves our pass rushers around and doesn't just send Hardy his way. Sure, Hardy can dominate anyone in the league when at his best, but when a new guy enters and hasn't played a single snap, throwing multiple different guys that bring different attributes and physical qualities at them can really cause some trouble.

Sean wouldn't make this move without a backup plan.  He is either going to keep Brown active in case Armstead falters or he will move Strief over to LT.  Watson is going to have to stay in and block and the RBs are going to have to chip.  Best case scenario is that the Saints have a solid new LT.  Worst case is that we have the reverse of what happened 2 weeks ago.  It'll be interesting to see how the Saints perform.  We all know the Panthers will be ready and full of energy.  They get off to a fast start and the Saints are going for the wild card.  The season has been entertaining for sure.  I have a funny feeling that we are playing each other 3 times this year and whoever has the HFA is moving on.

Honestly, even though he's going up against a rookie, I'd like to see Hardy lined up in the middle more.  He seems to be better at generating pressure up the middle with his quickness against guards.  Tackles always seem to bounce him outside and force him to come in from the side and behind when the QB steps up in the pocket.  Let's have the 6'4 Kraken screaming in 5'11 Brees's face.  Put the tallest players in the middle and get their hands up, force Brees to move around to find throwing lanes.  More time in the pocket = more sacks.
