Sometimes I wonder why some Qbs get a pass from the media

I like how the same people giving Cam props for finally "growing up" and "maturing" when it comes to dealing with the media still care what the media has to say about their quarterback.  I think a lot of you need to grow up too.  The media are bullies looking for an angle.  They are friends of nobody. Cam has learned that giving into the media is poison for his confidence and reputation, so he doesn't take them as seriously anymore.  Why haven't many on here learned the same lesson they are praising Cam for learning?

Tom Brady does some stupid bleeping stuff. Kicking Ed Reed, berating his teammates and coaches. Go on rants in the media. But he gets the Super Bowl pass. If you win the Super Bowl you are entitled to be a dick for the rest of your career. What bothers me about the media is they comment on things they do not understand. If you are not up to date on a topic then don't go on TV running your mouth. People are still bringing up post game press conferences with Cam. A couple weeks ago I heard a guy say "well yeah sure his press conferences are good now because he's winning". Completely ignoring the three Panther losses because he didn't bother listening to the press conferences. These guys get the highlights on sport center and second hand regurgitated information.

Speaking about the media and RG3: Steven A and Skip are such tools.

FYI (for those who care): When Cam had his infamous (to them) "suggestion box" press conference: These two guys said 'I'm worried about Cam; I mean as a man, and a person; I fear for him', and all these other extremes and overreactions. Off of one press conference (media hyperbole be damned)!

You would have thought, Cam Slapped his mother; crashed a car drunk, ran off the field or cussed out teammates numerous times, or was arguing with fans on twitter and trashing bathrooms after poor play.

Now with RG3, they're blaming his father, and saying they 'still believe in RG3, despite his tremendous drama, poor play, and health issues'. Why???????????

This guys got much bigger problems than Cam ever did: His father won't let go. He's a meddler; making RG3 a big time daddy's boy. He can't throw from the pocket. He can't read defenses. He's buddy buddy with the owner, to the chagrin of teammates and Head Coach (he must lead), who thus don't like him. But Steven A. and Skip still believe in him (though skip did express worries today, and Steven A. addressed his multiple problems on Thurs Dec. 19th)??

Steven A, even allowed RG3 or his father to call him (off air), and explain their story. This resulted in them discussing RG3 at length, for the second day in a row. Just curious? When did these guys ever do that for Cam or his father?????????????

Gotta Luv it. Lol

I realize as a lifelong Lions fan, you know more about that team than most. As an outside observer, what I see in Stafford is a guy with a lot of arm talent but someone very careless with the ball.

To me, the Lions are an undisciplined team top to bottom. That applies to ball security, penalties, etc. The environment is set by the head coach, so were I the Ford's, it would be time to look for a new head coach.

I also believe Stafford has struggled because the Lions haven't had a great running game for a few years, forcing him to try to do too much. With good coaching, he could probably be one of the top QB's in the league.

To be honest, they are playing the best football they ever have un Schwartz. They have 3 more penalties than we do. The D has played well, until the iggles game. But that offense is offensive. Decent line, talent at RB and WR, top shelf QB. Yet it is a disaster.

The Ford's love Mayhew. Mayhew loves Schwartz. The two have brought the Lions a long way in the last few years. Gonna be interesting in Motown, if they miss the playoffs.

The offense starts well, then tries to run to much, then overcompensates by passing too much. It is all over the map. Linehan goes berserk, then expects Matt to bail him out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. Stafford, imo, has too much on him. Like Cam the last 2 years. When they are balanced, like us, they are deadly. Get them unbalanced, and they fall apart.

This is why I hate A Smith and Bayless.

Those two have the biggest propensity for hyperbole I have ever seen.

Rg3's issues are much bigger than the media bullshit spouted against Cam but I don't want to fall in their trap.

thanks for jynxing the squad....we are 10-4

Here is another food for thought. Ask yourselves what is the difference between the Panthers 2011 and 2012 , and this season. For those who want to join the media's narrative on Cam, look at your team's record since he became your QB. Nothing but slow and steady progression. Cam's first season as QB where only the offense was working well he took the team to a 6-10 record from the previous year of 2-14. In 2012, with the defense still struggling and him settling in and very much growing, he took the team to a 7-9 season. And now 2013, with a defense that is getting stronger and the offense, despite it's struggles is still performing, the Panthers are now 10-5. What I see is a team that was themselves growing and changing, and a QB learning and growing.Cam only took a step backwards in the eyes of the media because they were playing off of the impatients of many Panthers' fans while still pushing their narrative of Cam and his "issues."

The Panthers have been progessing since Cam became the QB. The entire team has been growing and maturing into a more contending team. The problem is, the media has always made this team about Cam and not so much the team and it's weaknessses. The question many of you guys need to seriously ask yourselves is, do you want a team that is growing and getting stronger, with a QB who is clearly a very dedicated and hardworking young man, slowly making progess towards the bigger goal, a SB ring, or do you want a team that a patchwork of players and a QB who is being  burnt out?

Cam was never in a slump. A slump is when a team start strong and then go backwards. Even if it was only one more win than the year before, the Panthers did not go backwards. The Panthers simply didn't have a defense and the offense was learning and growing like it's new QB.

I have probably seen maybe 4 or 5 full Lions games in the last 2 years, so my sample size is small. When I say they look undisciplined to me, it's not just the penalties, it's the carelessness with the ball, and not playing within themselves along with their propensity for penalties at exactly the wrong time.

Fairley is a monster. He looks like he's added 35 pounds since he was drafted, but he still is very quick and can seemingly penetrate the pocket at will. We all know Suh is great. Reggie Bush was a great addition. But in spite of that talent, they just seem to piss away games on a regular basis. I think it's coaching because they have the talent. But maybe you're right, perhaps they just need a fresh face at offensive coordinator.

They are a very tough team to figure out.

Going after Cam was an assassination mission, its so much easier to make new breaking someone down rather than report the positive

Hey, I don't have a major problem with them supporting the guy. Just be consistent! And if you can't be consistent, just acknowledge that you're not being so, compared to someone else you covered.

clearly a conspiracy op. ESPN is ran by Nazis, the KKK, and communists. and they're working together to bring YOUR favorite team down! How can you stop this?

1. Link ESPN stories all over your favorite sports message boards

2. Spam about how you think the other teams QB gets more respect than your QB

3. watch ESPN all day long (especially first take - it's not scripted to get people talking, we swear. you have to watch skip intently so you can post about his antics everyday to everyone!)

Together, we can take down BSPN and the evil sports media.
