I think your question in your head is actually, "Why isn't Kenjon Barner a pro bowler and a starter?"

 

If he wasn't going to be a great player right from the start I don't know why we got him either.

I think it all boils down to pass protection.

 

I think Cam is the most blitzed QB in the NFL.  That puts a premium on pass protection.  Our OL already is weak....we can't afford TEs/RBs who aren't 100% on top of assignements.  Veterans should be better at that.
