I don't think any guy is going to step in as a #1 right away, unless we are picking top 5, which we aren't.

 

Best hope is to get a solid #2 with good upside.

Not expecting them to be number 1 day 1 of camp. But could make an impact early and grow into a bigger role by mid to late season. Which would allow Steve into the slot more, only good things happen from that

I don't feel he drops that many passes.

So go grab those stats to back up your claim.

 

There's a difference in dropping a ball when your team is up by 17 or down by 17 in the fourth quarter and dropping a crucial pass that gives momentum, or directly leads to putting a high powered offense in position to score more. LaFell has been guilty of the latter. Whether other WRs have or not I'm not sure. I would imagine they do, but I don't have those stats, nor do I honestly care to spend the hours looking them up. I personally think it would be best for both parties to go other ways, but not against bringing him back depending on the circumstances.

LaFell could develop into a Jeffrey type (who benefits from playing across from a prime Marshall. Steve Smith doesn't draw defensive attention like he used to anymore.) Decker still has drops and disappears for long stretches, plus has Peyton throwing the ball 50 times a game. Floyd would be a #1 on most teams (so doesn't it the classic definition of a #2.) Nicks has disappeared entirely. Baldwin would get a long look.

I guarantee you that if LaFell was allowed to walk he'd have a line of interested teams who'd love his size and physicality.

Hard to say. Who predicted Keenan Allen would be doing what he's doing right now? I just want a legit threat, #1, #2, doesn't matter.

 

I know plenty on here including myself thought Allen was a guy who could step in and be a difference maker pretty early. People relied too much on what the dude did in shorts as opposed to what he did in pads on the actual field. Allen looked like a top flight WR prospect on Saturday's, so it shouldn't really surprise anyone that he's playing at a high level on Sunday's if you ask me.

Only a homer would compare LaFell to Jeffery. Jeffery is on the level with the best right now(Calvin, Andre, Green, etc.).

 

LaFell is in his 4th seasons putting up stats like the rookie Terrence Williams (4th option) of the Cowboys.

 

LaFell played two seasons (2011/2012) with a highly productive Steve Smith across from him. He didnt do much jack. He is improving but you should lower your expectations. Lafell is Lafell. I have not seen anything where he could eventually develop into a Jeffery.

The problem is two of those hand picked plays play a huge factor in us being 10-4 still needing a win to get in the dance, and being 12-2 with the division locked up playing for home field throughout....

You guys watch every snap Brandon plays. When you stare at something that long your going to spot some flaws. Megatron cost his team the game and maybe the playoffs with several big drops against the Ravens. It happens, guys drop balls, Wes Welker had a drop in the Super Bowl. The only reason you single out Brandon is because you see every drop he makes.

 

I'm not sure Eric Decker is a star. He is playing in a Peyton Manning offense with many other weapons. He probably wouldn't pull the same numbers with us, probably not even close. Peyton Manning made Pierre Garcon a household name.

 

It's easy to list off star #2 receivers in pass happy offenses. Guys that were drafted high with tons of talent. Lafells yardage, receptions, and touchdowns put him right in no.2 receiver territory. Just look at Cam's pass attempts, we don't throw the ball enough for Lafell to have huge numbers.

 

We need a no.1 receiver. Via draft most likely because FAs will cost an arm and a leg. Hakeem Nicks may be interested in signing a 1 year "get right" deal. I just don't think we can replace Lafell without spending more money or a high draft pick. He's not that bad.

Only a dumbass with a memory span of a gnat would put Jeffery on the level with the best right now. Also, Jeffery has 133 targets to LaFell's 81. Extrapolate LaFell's stats with the same number of targets and he'd have very similar numbers to Jeffery.
