Panthers v. Saints matchup #2

I was trying to address what you posted about Stacy running since that really wasn't the difference, 17 points off turnovers. Another 3 off a surprise onside kick whixh is like another turnover equals 20 points of the 27. I think turnovers and the pressure that forced it was the main story, not Stacy running yard. Not to say Stacy was irrelevant, but without those turnovers it was a non factor.

Never said it was the deciding factor.  Just interesting that all of his yards came outside the tackle.  I think it's a spot Carolina should attack because NO interior is very stout.

How is anyone reading my posts and saying I'm trying to put a positive spin, make excuses, do damage control, etc. I said it in other thread. If same team shows up this week in Charlotte, they will get in early hole and get beaten bad, and then will probably be a quick out in playoffs, it's obvious they are not same team on road. They did have a good game earlier this year in Chicago where a garbage time Tad made the score a little closer, but they owned bears in that game. If that teams shows up, I like our chances, but the probability of that happening is looking low.

What bothered me in the last game was how physical the Saints DB's were with our receivers, and that we allowed it.  They will need to toughen up this week and expect the jams at the line.  Singling out Vacarro, who was roughing up Smith, he will need to be tought the rules and regulations of the game this week.

We can't have the Saints be the more physical team in this matchup.  Even at the cost of a penalty here or there, we need to establish dominance.  If Smitty has to pull someone down by their facemask and tell them to ice up, then so be it.

hey guys, remember when patty said this:

All teams are now put on notice, Panthers now have quality wins over the colossus known as Giants, the Herculean hard nose Rams, and titanic Vikings

Lol and that was with Bradford.

And lolololol don't forget this laughably insecure rant about our "unimpressive" victory over the Rams.

Saints off had almost 400 yards and 6 redzone trips while Saints Def held a Rams to 3 points and 67 yards in second half, the 17-0 lead because of turnovers minutes into game is what lost game. Add to that a surprise onside to get another possession and a sack fumble and 4 turnovers to Zero as well as two blocked FGs were the difference.

Alice stop with the excuses. We came out flat and got our asses kicked. No sense of urgency. Horrible play calls. Charles brown might be the worst offensive linemen in Saints history, and Sean Payton got pass happy throwing the ball 56 times to 20 run plays. That is NOT balance and is the recipe for getting your ass kicked.

Saints on the road this year: 3-4

2 point win over TB (lol)

8 point win over Bears

Loss to Patriots

Loss to Jets (lolol)

4 point win over Falcons (lol)

27 point loss to Seahawks (lolol)

Blowout loss to Rams (lololol)

Lost 4 of last 5 on the road, are clearly getting worse on the road as the season goes along.

This about sums it up

Hopefully RR learned his lesson from the drubbing we took at the dome. All those long sustained drives mean nothing if they only lead to three points. Really hoping our WR's are seeking vengeance and our DB's are seeking redemption from our last meeting with that despicable franchise.

HAVE to establish the running game and line of scrimmage.....our oline needs to come out pissed off and looking for heads....we have to capitalize on every redzone drive from the start....more creativity in the redzone but not to the point of trying to be cute....get cam in space and use play action....I expect a better showing out of Dwill and Smitty....they all know how big this week is...Sunday can't come soon enough

Good points. Another relevant fact, is that 3 of the 4 road losses were outdoors. The last time that the Saints won on the road in the elements was against the Bears over two months ago. Just sayin.

I am a saints fan (season ticket holder for 15 years) , but I must agree - we suck on the road - definitely in the elements outside.  I am not predicting a win this week for the saints - however, i do think it will be a very close game and hard fought - anyone who may think differently (for the saints or the panthers) are being big time homers.

Here is Saints defensive study from Panthers game that explains what worked,

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/53076/film-study-reviewing-saints-defense-8

Solo stops: I can't remember the last time I noticed so many impressive solo tackles by the Saints defense. The best was safety Malcolm Jenkins' hit against Newton on a read-option run that knocked him for a 2-yard loss inside the Saints' red zone. Fullback Mike Tolbert was heading out to block Jenkins, but Jenkins made him whiff when he knifed inside. Then Jenkins hit Newton around his knees to flip him up off the ground. That play ultimately led to Carolina settling for another field goal on its second possession.

Cornerback Keenan Lewis also made a terrific tackle against receiver Steve Smith for a 3-yard loss on a receiver screen in the second quarter. Lewis fought off a block attempt by receiver Brandon LaFell and practically shoved LaFell into Smith while making the tackle.

Safety Kenny Vaccaro made two nice open-field tackles. Linebackers Curtis Lofton, David Hawthorne and Parys Haralson each made standout solo stops, as well.

Disciplined effort: Last week, the Saints' defense probably had more undisciplined breakdowns at Seattle than they had in the first 11 games combined -- in both pass coverage and run containment. This week was like night and day in both areas.

Galette -- who got burned by a couple run plays at Seattle -- did a very impressive job of staying home on the edge of the line during the Panthers' read-option plays. One time he snuffed out a short pass intended for DeAngelo Williams. Another time, he was so busy spying on Williams that he let Newton scramble for a 6-yard gain -- but it was still evident that he was doing his job.

Other times, the Saints clearly had a spy hovering back behind the line of scrimmage to keep Newton from running free (Lofton at least once and Hawthorne at least twice). Newton still managed to beat a couple blitzes with long scrambles (finishing with six runs for 48 yards). And Carolina's trio of running backs gained 80 yards on 17 carries. But the Saints were solid enough in that area -- much better than some previous nightmares against the Panthers.

That game is behind us. We got our butts kicked last Sunday night. We will be ready. Throw all stats and performances out the window. It doesn't matter. We will be ready. If you think your Saints will see the same team and have the same results, you are going to be greatly disappointed. I guarantee you that the Panthers know that they owe the Saints. We smell Saints blood in the water. We didn't lose because of our lack of talent. We lost because of extremely bad game planning and execution. Those same advantages along with your dome will not be there for you next week. I guarantee it.
