Point em' out #3: Gerald Henderson

Time for another edition of Point em' out. this time the man at bat is Gerald Henderson. Lets go.

This guy is a guy I can not show as much criticism to due to the fact that unlike my past 2 subjects, this guy has improved year after year throughout his career... except this year, that is.

His FG% is down (44.7% to 40.6%), Which, in turn has his scoring down (15.5 to 14.8).

Now don't give me the same "Big Al is the offensive centerpiece" argument for this guys production going down, because he is shooting worse this year and scoring less on practically the same amount of shot attempts per game (Last year: 6.4, This year 6.2)

He is, like the last two men pointed out, averaging more turnovers this year (1.6 to 1.8) Less steals (1.0 to 0.9) Less Blocks (.5 to .4) Less assists (2.6 to 2.5)

FT% is down (82.4% to 79.2%)

The worst stat of all that has gone down, which is the holy grail of stats in the NBA today is his Player Efficiency Rating (League average is 15) is down 16.4 to 13.4

Henderson is probably the most consistent player on the team mentioned in my point em out, his numbers have dropped but very very minimally. His PER though, is atrocious and as a starter should be at least league average in my eyes.

Been saying this for a while now. Love him as a person, like him as a player, but dont love him as one. Gerald is not the long term answer in my eyes. He score big at times, but he doesnt "create" or "open" up this offense. He's not a game changer. Gerald doesnt make players around him better, but himself only. As of right now, Matt Carroll is still the best SG to ever played for this franchise.

I like Hendo. He has shown a lot of progress every year. My only problem with him is his game is built around the most inefficient shot in the NBA. MJ and Kobe both made careers off of that shot, but obviously Hendo is not on that level. He has gotten pretty consistent with that midrange fadeaway but still refuses to spot up in the corner or drive to the basket, both of which he has shown he can do pretty well.

Completely agree. Carroll is the real deal.
